Re: *~September Sapphires Check-In~* (Oct. 7)

  • @MyFirstRaspberry I'm so sorry about your cycle. Hugs! Will you be using the same protocol this cycle?

AFM, still trucking along, 10dpiui. I'm getting itchy to test, but trying to hold out for Friday or Saturday. Not a whole lot else going on. My therapist thinks I should try some art therapy (even though I have zero artistic skills), so I grabbed some supplies yesterday & will give it a shot. Hopefully I can manage to make something decent enough to put in the nursery once/if our rainbow comes along.

QOTW: Cabin all the way. I'm all for playing in nature, but I want tat least have the chance at plumbing & air conditioning.

Me: IR-PCOS, elevated DHEAs, low progesterone, weak ovulation  DH: low volume, low T
SHG 5/10/13: both tubes blocked; HSG 6/28 = Left tube cleared! Right blocked.

Lap & hysteroscopy scheduled for 10/31, right tube cleared, no endo found! ...Happy Halloween!
Cycle 14: Clomid (50)+ IUI = BFP! EDD 9/16/14~ Rowan Elizabeth born sleeping at 17w4d on 4/12/14 due to IC.

  • Hi @MyFirstRaspberry! How is everything going with you this week?

So I am working at an education nonprofit that runs an after school program three days a week in the public schools here. Because they took almost 2 months to hire anyone, the program hasn't started yet, so I am trying to get students enrolled, get volunteers and all that good jazz. Yesterday was my first appointment with my new doctor and I LOVED her, but everyone else in her office was pretty much terrible. So I made my mom come with me for moral support. So we get there and are seen pretty much immediately, but the woman who was taking my blood pressure and all that stuff was horrible. I told her that my previous doctor requested that all my records and ultrasounds were forwarded to her so I told her to check and make sure that they had them. She pulled open my records and then closed them and she started asking me all the standard questions, except she asked me if I had had any surgeries and I told her just the d&e in May. She then tried to correct me, to which I said again d&e. She then asked me what that was. So I had to explain it to her, and of course I started crying. Then she asked me why I had that, which I then again had to explain to her. Finally my mom just told her to do her job and look at my file. So then the doctor came in, talked to me, reassured me, we discussed the NTD and all the issues that came up with my pregnancy plus the loss. She said she wanted to do a whole exam just to make me feel more comfortable and know where I stand. She scheduled an ultrasound for Monday since they found small fibroids in my nuchal translucency and she just wanted to make sure that it isn't causing an issue. We also discussed the timeline. So she said since this is the 5th cycle post loss that we've been trying, she said that she would move forward with testing if I don't get pg by the first of the year. So, it's nice that she's listening to my concerns instead of brushing me off. I will probably go to her other office, though, since that nurse was terrible. But all good things! October is shaping up to be okay so far!

QOTW: I prefer camping outdoors. I love pitching a tent, starting a fire, and being outside.
  • @beckynsean11 FX for you! What supplies did you get to start your art therapy?
  • Thanks for the check in @MyFirstRaspberry‌ . The SHG found a submucousal fibroid in my uterus. It's in a terrible position (near my cervix, and compressed on the catheter for the SHG that they had tons of trouble getting the saline in. The OB said that it "definitely" played a factor in my losses. Because the test took so long, he didn't have time to talk to me, and my next appointment is the 15th. He did say quickly that he wanted to start with medication.

  • After thinking it all through this weekend, I've decided to try and get into a more specialized OB, did some homework, and there is a private clinic two hours away I'm hoping to get a referral for. I am on my 18th cd of bleeding, so the fibroid is definitely getting worse and I'm just physically and emotionally drained. I want it taken out before it grows even larger and becomes more problematic. However, I need my family doc or OB to sign off on the consult to the private clinic, and of course I can't get in until later next week. So currently bleeding and losing my mind :(

  • Can I come back to the check in? I am back from my break. I am on my third Clomid/TI cycle, and it is not a fun time. On other news, MIL's surgery is tomorrow. It should be a tense day and super long. It's going to be exciting being on Clomid with H's family in the house. My anger response has been on a hair trigger lately and his family tends to push those buttons. I am just hoping for a smooth recovery for her.

    All Welcome

  • @MyFirstRaspberry I'm so sorry about this cycle. How are you feeling?

@megrae12 Welcome back! I hope your MIL's surgery is going well. I can't imagine a full house is helping your stress level. I hope that even with everyone there you can still find some privacy and quiet moments.

@LauraO11 Waiting for referrals can be such a pain in the ass. I hope the specialized OB is able to get in you quickly. I'm sorry you're in such a frustrating situation.

@ashlee113085 Fuck that nurse. High five to your mom for telling her what the deal is. I'm glad you like the doctor, though. That is so important.

@beckynsean11 FX! I am all about arts (and crafts!) therapy. Can't wait to see what you make.

AFM, I've been applying to jobs and trying not to think about the TWW. I got my very first smart phone last week and downloaded the FF app. It makes charting so much easier! Random bump question--Is it just generally accepted that the bump's mobile app is full of bugs or am I missing something? Some days I can comment from it, others no. Meh.

QOTW: I love sleeping under the stars, but my love for indoor plumbing trumps that. Cabin all the way.
  • @ashlee113085 I got some paint & a couple canvasses. I figure at worst I'll just spear some pretty colors all over the canvas & call it art, lol.
I'm sorry that nurse was so incompetent. I'm glad that it went better with the doctor.

@LauraO11 I'm so sorry you're still bleeding. I hope you're able to get the referral & an appointment at the other clinic quickly. Hugs!

@megrae12 Welcome back! I hope this cycle isn't too hard on you. FX for your MIL's surgery.

  • @beckynsean11 Maybe I'll try the mobile site instead. When the app crashes it throws up an error message that says <Pregnancy Has Ended>. I mean, I get that the app is called "Pregnancy" but WTF--especially for the ladies on PgAL.

  • Update: managed to convince them to give me a consult next week. I got a copy of the radiology report and the fibroid has both shifted the position of my uterus and taken over most of the lower part of it. It's amazing it wasn't able to be seen on ultrasound really, or its growing incredibly fast.

  • @LauraO11 Whoa. What a relief that they can get you in a little sooner. Thinking of you.
  • edited October 2014
@megrae12 - Hey sweetie!! So glad to see you here. How did your MIL surgery go today?  Sending you anti-clomid calming vibes to deal with your family through a stressful situation.

@LauraO11 - Oh My Gosh!!  I can't believe the Fibroid has gone undetected for so long. I am so very glad you were able to get a test that helped uncover that not so small nugget of information. And thank goodness you have been able to get a consult very soon. I really hope the doctor can come up with a game plan that you are comfortable with.

@eliida - Umm... that app error is not cool. I do use The Bump app and it is a little weird but overall seems to work for me. I don't reply much via the app mostly read though. Good luck with the job hunt. FX you find a great job opportunity very soon.

@beckynsean11 - Art therapy sounds like a really neat idea. Beyond paint and canvas, would your therapist consider creative writing art. That might be another easy alternative. FX for you this cycle!

@ashlee113085 - WTF is up with that nurse. Her attitude and condescending tone is unacceptable. I am glad your mom was with you during that. However, if you continue to deal with that type of behavior from the nurse, I would inform the doctor. At least you have an alternative office to go to. It sounds like the new doctor is a good fit for you and takes your concerns seriously.

@LauraO11: Hugs lady! I hope you will get your referral and stop with all the bleeding! Yikes!
@eliida: Good luck with the job hunt! I ended up deleting the app for TB because it was always weird and buggy.  Also, that error message sucks.  Really, wtf?!?

AFM, I have my beta scheduled for Monday, but luckily I've not been obsessing about it (like I usually would) because my husband and I both have colds from hell.  Of course, I finally had to go to the doctor because it was so bad and I'm taking some PG-safe antibiotics just in case, but holy cow, this thing wiped us both out.  We have been two lumps on opposite ends of the couch all week.  So, our weekend plans? Stock up on Kleenex and recover! :)

QOTW: Cabin! I like indoor plumbing way too much.  Anything that requires me to have carry a shovel to go to the bathroom is out! :)
  • @MyFirstRaspberry - I'm so sorry your cycle was a bust.  Sending you so many (((HUGS))).  You've been on my mind love

UPDATE:  I'm on day 8 of stims and growing lots of follicles.  I feel super full already.  I had another monitoring appt this morning and my RE wants me to come in daily now until the retreival so we are getting close.  I assume the retrieval will be Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

In other news, work has been crazy hectic.  I may have an opportunity to work part time in DC and part time in NJ.  It would be a great opportunity but hard to manage all the RE stuff but I'm sure we will find a way to make it work.  If I'm in DC, we should get together @MyFirstRaspberry!

QOTW:  Cabin for the same reason as @superwife425!

  • @superwife425 Feel better soon! I'm sorry you and your husband are feeling so rotten.

@megrae12 So glad to hear that the surgery went well. You and your family are in my thoughts.
  • Thanks ladies. I've really had to fight for all of this, but I'm thankful to have some health professionals trying to work with me- seems like everything is a fight up north :( Next week I've got an appointment with my family doctor to review everything and get a copy of my file Tuesday, with the regular OB Wednesday, and the private clinic on Thursday (driving there and back, 2 hours each way).
