Overdue Lady's - What's your plan?

This is my third time around but I feel so out of my league. My first two both came early. I was due last Friday and there is no sign this baby is coming out anytime soon. At my last appointment I saw a student midwife and with each day that goes by I'm getting more annoyed at the lack of action. My next appointment is this Friday, when I'll be 41 weeks. If they decide then to do additional monitoring/testing, it's unlikely that I would get anything scheduled too quickly since there is only one MFM office in this area. Since I'm AMA, I've already been to the MFM twice this pregnancy. Once was for first tri genetic testing and the second was for my anatomy scan. I can't decide if I should continue waiting (maybe the full moon will knock this kid loose?) or go ahead and call the MFM to see if I can schedule an appointment myself without waiting for the midwives?

For those of you who are overdue, what have you had done (NST? BPP? Nothing?) and what is the plan of action?

Im not technically overdue...Im 37w4d but I have an induction scheduled for tomorrow. Im preg with twins and the docs don't want me to go over 38 weeks even though my weekly BPPs have been perfect. I actually had permission to schedule my induction for next Monday, at 38w3d, but then I found out that the only 2 docs that perform breech births (baby B is breech) are on call this Wed and Thurs sooooooo, I had to move my induction up to get the docs I want and hopefully the vag delivery I want. 

With DD, I delivered at 41w4d. I did it all...massage, pressure points, evening primrose oil, rocking on an exercise ball for hours while watching birth videos on youtube (I don't recommend this), walking, sex, spicy food, etc. In the end, she came when she wanted. Just remember that every day your LO stays put is another day for LO to grow. I know its hard to wait but know that IT WILL END, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If babys safe, leave it put. You can do this. Good luck!

I'm not overdue yet (39 weeks Thursday), but my situation is similar to yours so wanted to reply.  I am also pregnant with #3 and am AMA.  I have been with two drs. offices during this pregnancy (Long story not worth telling) and both of them had told me they would like to induce at 39 weeks but definitely wouldn't let me go past my due date.  I'm not sure if that's just because I'm AMA or because I'm also 40.  It seems like 40 is some sort of magical number where they are worried that my body won't work anymore.  

I have been having cervical checks every week since 36 weeks.  Nothing has been happening at any of them - 50% effaced, but closed and last week baby was so high I cried uncle before she could even feel the head.  I've also been having NST's the last two weeks and will have one on Thursday as well.  I'm scheduled to go in on Monday night for cervidil, if needed (not sure how far dilated i need to be for them to say I don't need the cervidil), and then would do pitocin starting Tuesday morning.

As for anything on my own, I actually want her to stay in until at least Sunday night.  My son has a big baseball tournament this weekend and it might seem silly, but I know how crushed he'll be if we aren't there for it.  He had trouble going to sleep last night thinking about it, so I really want to be there for him.  So, I am keeping activity to a minimum.  I don't feel like anything is happening since my last check.  TMI, but I don't even have enough discharge to warrant a liner.  I have a feeling I"m going to need to be induced.

P.S., I got the impression that if I weren't 40 (which I JUST turned 40 a month ago), I wouldn't have needed the NSTs.

I would call and see if they can schedule the testing now just in case instead of waiting until your appointment. Perhaps they can at least explain why they're waiting to schedule things given the MFM situation? Worst they can say is no!

I'm due on Saturday, at my appointment yesterday they set an induction date (41 weeks and a few days) and also mentioned that after my due date (I can't remember if it was starting at 41 weeks or beforehand) they'd start the checks/tests to check on baby, etc.

I've been feeling all sorts of odd things yesterday and today, I'm hoping between whatever my body is doing and the full moon things get rolling before I have to consider the induction!

My grandmother took castor oil at the instruction of her ob to get labor started and she said it worked with both kids. I guess I'd try it if I were that desperate.....

Definitely not wanting to try castor oil. I guess it just seems strange to me to go beyond my due date when I've gone early twice before. I seriously expected to have had the baby and be on to a routine by now. Doesn't help that I'm rapidly outgrowing all my clothes. I really really hope the full moon does the trick.

My mom is determined that the full moon plus the full lunar eclipse tomorrow will be why I have the baby tomorrow.

I'm hopeful for this also...

My ob said this does cause a lot of women to go into labor.

Castor oil can cause the baby to have a bowel movement and that can cause infections and respitory problems. A lot of the recommendations have changed in the last ten years. I can't imagine what has changed over the last 50 years.

OP, regardless of how desperate you are, please don't try this.

40+4 here too. I had an NST last Saturday (40+1). I've got my weekly appointment on Thursday and a BPP and NST scheduled for Friday morning. After that is induction scheduled for Monday.

My doc doesn't like you to go more than 10 days over.

I've been pretty crampy the last few days, so I'm really hoping things get going soon. I did t realize that the full moon was tomorrow, hopefully that helps, though it does cut down on the possibility of getting a private room.

Had my 39+6 appointment yesterday, very happy my hospital is not induction happy and told me they try to reduce c section stats by not allowing elective inductions before 40 weeks for no reason. Another ob told me he let's women carry to 42 weeks and the ob I saw yesterday says he'd go even further. He scheduled me for an u/s and nst for Thursday I will be 40+2.. And another nst for Monday if I'm still kicking around. He told me it's early to decide but somewhere between the 14th-21st if I'll need to be induced. I want baby to come on his own so I'd pick the latest possible. Fiancé wants ASAP and would prefer the 14th - haha I'm the roly poly and can hold out longer than he can!

Would like to continue reading everyone else's late plans... I don't know if I should start trying to trigger it.. I haven't had sex in months and don't really want to at this size.

Had ultrasound and appt today. Still only 1cm and think I MAYBE had my first BH yesterday. Labor is definitely NOT imminent and doctor said most likely will be keeping my induction appt for Friday morning. Going to find an acupuncturist tomorrow and see if that does anything. But look at this baby face!

I was due on the 3rd, this is my third birth an the other 2 needed to be induced as well. I am scheduled to go in thursday night for cervidil and hopefully that will kick me into labor. It worked with the first pregnancy. with my second my water broke and went in with no contractions and then had pitocin. My labors have been short 6-8 hours but so intense. Last time my epidural was an accidental spinal and had severe headaches so im going without an epidural so im quite nervous but i do have a doula this time around.

edd was oct 2nd so 40+5days here.  i'm pregnant w/ #2 and also AMA (turn 40 in dec).  had my weekly appt yesterday and dr. is super cool with letting me ride things out. i have a NST scheduled for thursday and my next weekly appt a week from today where we'll discuss induction.  went 10days overdue w/ DD before going in for an induction.  just keeping in mind that it's much easier take care of baby while he's in my belly than juggling him and a 2 yr old once he's out.

I won't be over due till Thursday.  40 weeks tomorrow. Not really doing anything but walking and keeping active, but looks like as of tomorrow , we are already talking induction per my ob. She wants to induce my between Friday and Sunday this weekend. Seems a little soon to be honest but my doctor already said that they do not want me to go past 41 weeks.

40wks + 3 days here. Was at doctor today and had an NST. Only 1 cm dilated and about 60-70% effaced so not too much going on. Doctor is unconcerned - she thinks based on my health, (good BP and no protein in urine) and the very good NST, we can keep waiting. I have another NST and U/S scheduled for Friday. U/S is to check fluids and weight - but doctor said unless there are any concerns during those tests, they'll then schedule me for Tues appt to see what's going on and only then start discussing possible induction. My doctors office is good going into week 42 before inducing. Very much hoping I go into labor before we get to that as would really like to avoid pitocin. Been walking 2-3 miles a day, bouncing on the birth ball once to twice a day, having sex and tomorrow going to call my former acupuncturist to see if she can squeeze me in tomorrow or Thurs. Also talking to baby ever day telling him or her its time to see the world.

Im 40+5 I had my stress test yesterday baby is doing great. I'm 3cm dilated which is great means all those small on and off contractions were actually doing something. Doctor says LO is low but can be lowe....really...i can barely walk with out feeling like she's going to fall out. Doctor asked if I wanted to give LO a little push and i said yes but since if would be DS's birthday today I asked to wait. I have an appointment for Friday 41wks so I'm guessing baby this weekend. I'm curious to know what push she's talking about DH and i talked about it all night and can't figure it out.

But anyway I tried pineapples, sex and walking but no teas. I was induced with DS at 40w4d so at this point I'm pretty much ready to give up on LO coming on her own. I just want to meet her and kiss her endlessly.

I'm a FTM & 40+5 today. At yesterday's appt I was 70% effaced and 2-3 cm dilated. I'm made a little progress since last Tuesday (like .5 cm).

My dr is going to do a NST and sweep me next Tuesday if he doesn't come by before then. If the NST isn't ideal, next Tuesday I'll be induced. If the NST is good we'll wait to see if the sweep works until next Friday.

I hope he comes before then! I'm willing to wait but ugh, I'm am done with the precious moments of pregnancy! Especially the moments where my kid tries his best to make an exit out of my left side with his foot!

Yesterday, at 40+2 I was 1cm and had a membrane sweep, but my cervix is still really high.  So far nothing has happened, so tomorrow, 40+4 I'll have another sweep, and if that still doesn't work, my Dr. is going to induce me at 41w with a softening agent.  We are going to avoid Pitocin for as long as possible, and she's confident that a dose or two of a softening agent will do the trick.
