Re: SAHM Check-In
Stresses: LO still won't take naps in his crib. Either I keep putting him there and he cries and I have an overtired baby or I have to lay down with him for every nap, which means I get nothing done all day.
Weekly Topic: Last time I was sick, my DH was out of town, so I turned my living room floor into a bed, play area and diaper changing station. My LO and I snuggled on the floor for 2 days and I had all meals delivered. My son's more mobile now so I'm not sure he'd be as good at snuggling if I were to get sick now. But having as much of the stuff I needed close to me so I wasn't constantly moving up and down, room to room, definitely helped.
GTKY: We've been listening to a lot of Disney radio lately and even though I wasn't a huge fan of Frozen, the songs have started to stick in my head.
What were your successes this week? My house is clean-ish and decorated for fall. I survived last week when DH and I had something every evening and hardly saw each other. I'm trying hard -- and succeeding some -- to feel less overwhelmed on days I'm home with LO all day.
What was your biggest challenge or struggle this week? We really had a pretty good week here, so my challenge isn't really related to SAHMing. I feel weird about this, but I'm having a hard time with LO not being so much of a baby anymore. He's moving up a size in clothes, he's eating, he's standing and crawling and moving so much. I know it's what's supposed to happen, but I feel very much like my snuggle buggle baby is gone. That's hard for me.
What helped save your sanity? I had a couple hours of free time on Friday afternoon. I promised myself I'd do something productive. I laid on the couch for two hours and caught up on TV shows. But, darn, it felt so good to be home alone in my house!
Topic for the week: We know moms don't really get sick days. How do you handle being at home with your LO(s) if you're not feeling well? How does your DH/SO help out? What's your plan? I've had days when I don't feel great -- cold/sinus/allergy. I do kind of the minimum to keep LO engaged. I rest when he rests. I power through. If I was really sick, DH would have to stay home/WFH to help out. He's good about that, as is his employer. He's come home early when I've needed a mental break, and I know he'd do it when I need a physical break.
GTKY: What is the most embarrassing song you could sing all the words to? Your guilty pleasure music? The radio station you only listen to when you're alone in the car? Wellllllll, I've been enjoying the Pop2K station on Sirius XM a little bit to much. I also know all the words to Boom Clap.

Sorry I'm late to the game! Yesterday was crazy!
@Madisopenny Hope LO's sleep over goes well. I'm counting down the months until I feel like we can ask my MIL to do that while we get away! Building a house was something I wanted to do, but we didn't have the time or all the money when it came right to it. We do "get" to completely relandscape our backyard that is all weeds. That's kind of like building our own right?
@SadieC20 our LO would not sleep in his crib either. He'd wake up within 15 minutes. (Slept in his car seat for forever). We started putting him in there to play with a mobile and eventually he started sleeping there. But we weren't sleeping with him so it was probably a bit easier for us to let him graduate on his own. Hang in there!
@Armfruit Congrats on the move! Happy decorating. We love 3M strips if you don't/can't go crazy with nails!
What were your successes this week?
I lost 2.5 pounds last week at my Friday weigh in. Really hoping to see continued progress. We have a family event in Vegas in Nov and I really want to start seeing results by then. Working out has also helped me be happier. It's been over a week since I've had a "low" day. Getting to have LO at the gymcare or MIL's for just an hour while I work out and focus on me really helps.
Also LO cut 3 more teeth (still coming in). He teeths like a champ! No fussiness. Just chews on everything in sight for a week or two before. He has 5 teeth total now! He's also starting to improve more with crawling. He can sometimes get his hips off the floor and every now and then gets his legs under him. Heaven help us. He will master it just in time for our trip next month I'm sure!
What was your biggest challenge or struggle this week?
Trying to not eat too much. We had a family event over the weekend. It was hard to not overindulge in the available sweets. I pretty much have no real sugar in my house. We want to send out Christmas cards this year to family and I'm determined to look better than my current heavier state.

The gym-- and LO is basically turning into the cutest creature. Also, I invited our neighbor kids over for the week and their mom stayed yesterday and just chatted with me. It was great to get to know her. They're building a house a few cities north so who knows how long they'll be around.

I rarely get sick, but LO and I had the same cold and every now and then I have back issues. In a perfect world I can send the baby over to MIL's. Last time that didn't work out so I just had to try and sleep when the baby slept, and just take it easy during the day with him. Makes for some doubly miserable days though. In a tough pinch DH could stay home for part of the day if needed.

Hmm. Not sure but Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" Album. I know all the lyrics of every song by heart and could totally blast that. I grew up fairly conservative with music so when that came out during my "rebel" college days, it was my rock out gym/anti boy music.
