Trouble TTC

Exercise during 2ww?

I was just wondering what you ladies have been told about working out during the 2ww? My first RE in North Carolina never said anything, but now my new RE in pennsylvania says only walking and other low impact exercises. Just wondering what you've been told or what you follow : )

Re: Exercise during 2ww?

  • I asked my RE if running 3-4 miles 3 times a week and Zumba about 3x a week is ok to do during the TWW and he said that was fine. I think it depends on each person, as we are all different, but personally exercising keeps me sane... and that's what is needed most during the TWW!

If you don't already have an established work-out routine, it's best to take it easy.  If you are excersing consistantly, you have nothing to fear with keeping your normal routine.  Althought I've yet to get a BFP, when I do, I will just listen to my body and not overdue it.  One of my friends just had a baby, and she was an avid cross country runner... Anways she ran 2 miles the day before she delivered! (not my cup of tea! haha)

     Me: 30 ~ DH: 30
    Married: October 1, 2011
       TTC: since Jan 2013
    Diagnosis: Unexplained Infertility March 2014
    IUI 1 & 2 - Natural - BFN
    IUI 3 & 4-  50 mg Clomid+ Trigger = BFN
     IUI 5 & 6 50mg Clomid +Trigger + Crinone = BFFN
    Benched Dec 2014
    IUI 7 - gonal-f + trigger + Crinone = BFFN

  • I agree about keeping sane! I was surprised when I asked if I could run and I was told just to walk instead. So the first iui I did with the new RE, I barely did anything and went crazy just for a bfn. I think I'll stick my usual routine this time.
  • My RE said that any activity that my body is used to is fine. She said not to overdo it (no Insanity/P90X DVD routines), but I shouldn't really stop my normal routine either (jogging, light weights, etc.).

The only things she wants me to limit during a 2WW are alcohol and caffeine. And even then she said I can still have some (very moderated, of course) until I get a positive test.

    Me: 28  MH:35

Married September 2012. TTC since September 2013

June 2014 - Dx w/ significant PCOS and referred to RE.

July/August 2014 - Testing complete: Testosterone & AMH very high, FSH slightly high, Vitamin D low, tubes and lining all lovely. DH SA: A+

    Cycle 1 (Nov 2014): 2.5 mg Letrozole/Ovidrel/TI = BFN

    Cycle 2 (Dec 2014): 5 mg Letrozole/Ovidrel/TI - BFN

    Cycle 3 (Jan 2015): 5mg Letrozole/Ovidrel/TI - BFN

    WTF consult scheduled for 1/29

  • @NariaDreaming‌ thank you for this! I didn't realize it was different with injections.
  • My RE warned that my ovaries may be a bit larger after IUI, so I should try to avoid anything high-impact to avoid discomfort.  I've also heard from most ppl that you should be fine with any activities your body is already used to on a regular basis.  However, I do hot yoga regularly, and was told to steer clear of this during the 2WW, so I do.

    ***BFP (not mine) waring***

That said, I've met pregnant women in my yoga classes that have mentioned that they and their babies have been fine.  I also met someone who actually ran a marathon during her first trimester, and had a fine pregnancy and baby.

However, after over two years of TTC, I'm not going to take any unnecessary risks.

  • @DharmaChick‌ that's exactly how I feel. It's been roughly 3 years for us. Although, we have taken fairly big breaks from actively trying in there just because I got fed up and other issues that came up along the way. I just figure better safe than sorry with some of the stuff.
  • My RE never said anything... but I used the 2WW as an excuse to sit on my ass and watch marathons of Snapped without feeling guilty about it lol.

    **EVERYONE WELCOME!! :)**

  • I have no advice to add to this thread since I've yet to have a 2ww, but I wanted to thank you for asking the question.  I've been wondering the same thing for when I finally get to that point.  I usually jog 3-4 times a week, do hot yoga 2-3 times a week and ballet once a week so I was wondering what, if any, changes I would need to make.  My RE generally seems to be of the "if you enjoy it, keep it up" school of thought with other things so I'm guessing she'd say the same about most exercising.
Me: 31 (PCOS) possible right tube issues DH: 36 (SA normal)
