Re: ~~~ cwhit ~~~

  • Thanks for checking on me TJ! Yes today was my first day back. It started off crappy when I realized all my dress pants are too tight and had to resort to scrubs today but all my coworkers are really supportive and were happy to have me back so that helped! The day seemed to drag on and pumping.... Oh pumping :-q I still haven't figured out a quick way to do it. It can be such a hassle. But I survived. Luckily DH was with the kids today and I'm never the one to drop them off in the morning so that helps me, otherwise I'd be a mess. DH said DS cried this morning when I wasn't here and DD did just fine and gobbles down a bottle like a champ.
I hope we can keep a good/early bedtime routine cause I'm exhausted today! I can't wait for the weekend already.

Any good tips for fast efficient pumping?

  • All my clothes are still too tight too. :( I'm sorry he cried, but it will get better. I'm glad you have supportive coworkers.
As far as pumping, I try to keep everything as set up as possible. If you can keep the parts refrigerated, you don't need to wash between pumps. Breast compression while pumping can make it quicker. Watching videos of LO may help you let down quicker. And a hands free pumping bra is a must!

  • I tried watching videos of A while pumping, but the most effective thing was to totally distract myself. I'd watch stuff on YouTube, play candy crush, bump.... That seemed to help me have a huge let down! Good luck!

  • Okay so just a tip for pumping..I literally pump no longer then 10 minutes. I seriously push on both sides of my breast and the top to make sure I get all the milk left so hopefully I keep making more. High setting as well. Shoot as much as I pump I swear my nipples are made of steal. Don't feel too bad about the clothes. I am 6 months in and still 2 sizes to big for ALL of my clothes. I have worn the same horrible clothes for months and the only thing I bought was one size 10 and one size 8 pants until I can get back into mine. I wear dresses every day besides that. All in time...give yourself a break!! Hope your week gets easier

I bought 2 pairs of pants, and had 2 pairs of pants from after I had E that fit.  And I bought some shirts, but they are shirts that will still work even once I lose the weight.  Around the house I mostly still rock my ill-fitting maternity clothes -- jeans at least.  I feel like my real jeans will never fit again.  Go buy a few things.  It will make you feel better.  Can you do stairs or something at work to help you lose a few pounds quicker?  I am on the 6th floor.  I take the stairs for each of my pump breaks, and that works out to 30 flights of stairs a day.  I've lost 10 lbs since I got back to work.  (I still have 20 to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and another 10 till my ideal weight.)

Good for you TJ! 10lbs is awesome! Hope the trend continues for you.

Thanks for the suggestion. I really should start taking the stairs to start shaping up. Until then I really do need to buy a few things... The weirdest thing is I'm only 5lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight but I'm nowhere close to fitting my clothes.

  • Okay, now I kind of hate you a little bit!  ;)

Having a baby changes your body.  I don't think mine will ever be the same, even if I did lose all the weight.  Hang in there, you're doing great!
