first name, last name combo issue? - thoughts, please

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for feedback on a first/last combo that may have potential issues. Really not looking for feedback here on the first name at all. Again, please note specific issues with the first/last together, if any. Thanks in advance.

First: Indie
Middle: Jane
Last: Sand

Indie Jane Sand
Indie Sand

  • Meh.  It's not great sounding.

I don't particullarly love Indie as a full first name, but I think when you have a noun as a LN, it can be a little tricky to pick a FN that doesn't make it sound like you are trying to describe something.

  • Yes, a noun last name has proven to be very difficult for naming. Everything suddenly sounds like an adjective. Thanks for the feedback -- keep it coming! (No one's mentioned the specific issue I'm thinking of so far.)

  • Indie Jane Sand sounds better than Indie Sand. I'm not sure why but Indie Sand sounds choppy.

  • Does sound like a resort or a cocktail. Also like someone saying "In the sand" with a Jamaican accent. I kind of like Indie though!
  • I immediately thought "indie band," as in the category of bands. Not a fan at all.
  • Ding, ding, ding. This. I have been worried about the "in the <blah>" sound. I said the same thing to my husband -- probably a bigger issue if we lived in Jamaica. Full disclosure, our last name is a different noun, I was just wondering if people thought Indie sounded like "in the." Of course, I didn't realize the "indecent" issue when I chose Sand as a stand in for our noun last name.
  • In-Die Sand... Like a horror flick or something.

I don't like it. Indie sounds like a nickname. I like Jane as the first name more. You could always call her indie.. But once she's 18, she could use a more professional name.

    Thanks! That's constructive.
  • No problem. It's amusing to see people who clearly read the initial post but can't comprehend the actual request.

Ok, now I really want to tell you the name sucks. It's terrible. If you went with India, I'd have a different comment because it's an actual name. A place name nonetheless, but still a recognized name. Indie is not.
