To the glory that is cloth diapers, I mean.
I was at a baby shower on Saturday and left DS home with DH and my 15 year old stepson. DS went down for a nap and DH decided to run an errand so he left SS in charge. DS woke up a short time later and had a dirty diaper, which my stepson changed (he has a younger sister so he's not totally new to diaper changes). He put on a cloth diaper (not perfectly). I told him later we had some spare disposables in the closet, and he said something to the effect of, "Well, I'm no hippie, but when I found out that disposable diapers don't decompose for like 500 years, well, that's just awful. I care about the world my kids are going to grow up in, and cloth is so much better. I'll probably use it for my kids."
Then DH confessed that he is so happy we use cloth (he was skeptical at first), and thinks they are cuter and work better and is thrilled at how much money we've saved and how much better he thinks they are for the environment.
I'm very, very proud of my guys right now - wanted to share with people who could appreciate this!
Re: I've converted two!
DH makes fun of me for being a hippie, but always qualifies it with "but the diapers are great!" One time he was at gymnastics with my daughter and another guy struck up a conversation with him about how great cloth diapers are... he said they talked about it for a bit, then huffed and said 'yeah... sports are great too though... right?'
