OPK Question

For those of you that use OPKs and ovulate regularly, how many days do you usually get a positive result?  I'm on day 3 of positives.  The month that I conceived my last child, I had 6 days of positive OPKs and ovulated on about the 3rd or 4th day of them but still had two or three more positive tests.

Usually I ovulate within 24 hours of a +OPK. This month was a little different.

I have never had more than 1 day of positives.  I usually get one "almost" positive where the test is slightly lighter than the control line, the next one is the true positive where both lines are just as dark.  Then the next one the test line is much lighter.  I usually test 2x a day.

@SchruteBucks Good luck with SME.  Do you still use the 3 days of ED and then EOD until the kit goes negative, or do you have to go ED until you get a negative?  Using wondfos I had the same results as @tlc35.  Using the CB advanced digital OPK, I had 2 days of high before I hit peak the first cycle.  The 2nd one with the same batch, I had 5 days of highs and then ran out before I ever got the peak symbol.

I have the same experience as @tlc35 with Wondfos.

I have the same experience as @tlc35 with Wondfos.

I don't use Wondfos (I use regular pink dye sticks--usually CVS brand), but I see this pattern, too.  Based on charting, I usually ovulate ~24 hours after the true positive, but it's been more like 12 on occasion.

ETA, both the CVS version of Wondfos and Dollar Tree OPKs ALWAYS look positive to me.  I don't know what you're using, but if you're getting more positives than you think are likely/helpful, you might want to try another brand!

Thanks for the answers, everyone.  I'm using the Wondfo strips.  Maybe I'm just having a lot of very nearly positives like @tlc35 mentioned and I'm just reading them as positive.  Today was negative, so I'm relieved! 

@lcwed thanks!  We've been doing ED since we saw the first positive OPK.  Since yesterday was the last positive OPK we'll do two more days and then take a break and then do our one last try.  I think I probably ovulated yesterday, so all those tries are unnecessary, but we're covering our bases and will keep trying as if yesterday was the first positive.

I'm chiming in late, but if you have to do another month (fingers crossed that you don't with the ED sex!), maybe see if you can compare them to see a fade in pattern.  What I've noticed with the Wondfos (and like @tlc35, I test 2x per day), is that they get darker and darker and then I get a positive.  It's subtle.  Good luck!

@Heath&Jas, I do get a fade in pattern but the dark/positive days just seem to last for several days.  If I am not successful this month, I'll post my tests for opinions next month...maybe I'm just calling a nearly positive a positive.

I have had a solid two days of positives with Wondfos occasionally.  Not every month but probably every 3rd or so. When I was temping I found it correlated with my temp dip on the second day.
