anyone use these?

Up until a couple weeks ago I still bathed LO in the infant tub with the infant insert sling in It. Now that she is in the big girl tub washing her hair is a pain... she won't lean back when I need to rinse and freaks out when the water runs down her face. Any tips?? I found this online and wonder if you mama's have found it useful? ( my android won't let me post a photo apparently so there's the link)

Re: anyone use these?

  • It probably depends on if she'll let you put it on her. It looks like it might do pretty good though. DD takes a shower with me. I wash then DH hands her to me, I wash her body off then lather her hair. To rinse, I cradle her and cup my hand around her head to keep water out of her eyes when I'm rinsing the front.
Side note, some friends took their DD to an infant swim class and the whole 1st part of the class was getting the LOs so they aren't afraid of water in their eyes. The instructor said a major factor in drownings is that LOs freak out when they get whet in their eyes. So they fall in a pool, they are too busy trying to get the water out of their eyes to tread the water. I'm not sure how accurate that is or how he knew that info but it's stuck with me. So I've always tried to act like it's no big deal if water gets in DDs eyes, you know how some parents rush in to wipe away all the water. If water gets in her eyes in the shower, I usually don't even wipe it away. In the class they used buckets with holes in the bottom and dripped water on the kids heads adding more water falling each week until they could dump the whole bucket on them.

  • I would try to get LO used to getting water on her face little bits at a time instead of buying anything. I agree with PP that it's a good thing for them to get used to.

Since LO was little, we intentionally have let the water run over her face a bit when we're rinsing, and in the pool when the babies gets splashed, the instructor always says "blink blink blink!" to get the LOs to learn to blink the water out. Maybe try that?

  • Same as other PP.  DS HATED getting water in his eyes and when I would tip him back to rinse his hair there was lots of screaming.  I just kept doing it until he started to get more comfortable.

  • Thanks ladies I'll just keep working on it with her and hopefully she will get less upset as time goes on ; )
  • I had one of those when I was little. My mom has a picture somewhere.

  • My LO is pretty laid back in general, but I try to make it a game. I sing song "close your eyes" multiple times and close my eyes tight while holding on to him to give him the example. He mostly closes his eyes now. Sometimes he opens them, but he doesn't freak out anymore.
