Nursery Delimma!

We decided on the white Delta Bentley cribs and matching dresser, but after measuring in the room we want to use for the nursery the dresser is not going to really fit. We ended up deciding on getting the Bentley changing table instead, but now I need to really utilize my closet space since I will not have a dresser. Any ideas for closet organization for twin girls?

Here is the set up I plan in doing after googling twin nursery set up ideas! I really wanted the cribs agianst the walls and I think this set up will work with the changing station in the middle and give us some room to space the furniture out some like what is shown in this picture.

Re: Nursery Delimma!

  • I actually got one of those dresser topper change tables. I thought the function of a dresser was more important than a real change table. You could also put a smaller and taller dresser into your closet. Just a few ideas.
  • Loading the player...
  • The only things that go in the chest are PJ's.  All shirts get hung, and then in the closet I have one of those 3 drawer sterilite dresser things, I keep shorts, pants, socks, and underwear (or diapers) in there.

  • Our twins are in separate rooms now but we didn't have a dresser when they shared and still don't despite the extra space. We don't have a dresser either (preference) so we used the same system for them that we use!

We use fabric closet organizers for things that can't be hung/aren't easily hung up (pants, socks, etc). Onesies & sleepers get put on hangers! We have a "5 item" rule though (ex-5 sleepers per kid per size, 5 onesies) so the closet is never overflowing.

We had a more "kid" looking one but similar to this:

It frees up a ton of floor space so the kids will have free range apart from their beds once we outgrow the change table & rocker phase!

Good luck and have fun designing :)

  • All my kids have dressers but I also use the hanging closet oraganizers for things like blankets, extra sheets, and other misc. items.

  • Depending on your twins the only thing that you may learn quick is that they could not like being so far away from one another. I am a newborn specialist and primarily work with twins and triplets and have had various families that the set up worked for, but many more where we ended up moving the cribs so they were side by side with just enough room in between to walk between the two cribs. I always had the babies sleep in one crib for the first four to six weeks so they had the closeness they are use to in the womb but then when we put them in separate cribs (when taking away the swaddle) some twins will want to easily be able to lay and look at their sibling! It is super cute though!!

  • Just saw my neighbors who has twin girls. She got one of those 9 cube things and then labeled each cube with what was in it (socks, bibs, blankets, pants, shoes, hair bows, different sizes of clothes 3-6, 6-9, 9-12.

    10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
    8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!!  TWINS!!!!

7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations!  Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage.  Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.
  • Can you fit a dresser/drawers in the closet? Or can you put the cribs in an L shape in the back corner.. instead of long ways against the long wall? Then maybe you can fit a dresser in?

  • We didn't have a dresser until they where about 8 months we just used a closet organizer and it was fine. Once we got one we moved out the changing table and kept the pad on top of the new dresser. I hate having a dresser now all they want to do is pull everything out of it! If you can manage with just the closet I'd stick with that.
