I have a son named Gabriel. The nurses at his pedi's office can't read apparently, and always call "Gabrielle" and get surprised when they see a boy. So my only concern would be that the reverse could also happen. People are dumb and can't read. But as a name, it's a good one. I also hate Gabby, but I hate Gabe as well. My son's name is Gabriel. Until he tells me he wants to be called Gabe, I do not tolerate its use.
Hate it. It's too close to Gabriel, and some people will probably pronounce it like that. I don't like gabby as a nickname either. Maybe: Elle. Gabriella. Gianna. Ellie. Ella.
I like it. I know a little Gabrielle. I think the idea of Gabby sounds bad in theory but since I know a Gabby, I realized that it really isn't bad at all. It's adorable.
