RE results and very confused

I just left my appt and we are more confused than before we went. I had about a 30 minute trans ultrasound to look for an eptopic pregnancy. They found nothing and said I do not have an eptopic pregnancy. The RE basically told me he has no idea what is going on and scheduled me to come in for another ultrasound and more blood work on Monday. He said it's confusing because my hcg level is still slowly rising, but most definitely is not doubling which normally indicates eptopic, but it's not in this case. He said my hcg should be decreasing for miscarriage and it's not doing that either.

So that's where we stand right now and we are so confused. I would really appreciate any similar experiences or your expert thoughts. Thank you.

I'm sorry, I have no advice or personal experiences to share with you either, but I just wnated to offer my support. I can't imagine how frustrating all this is. Please be kind to yourself, HUGS.

First off, I'd like to say sorry that you're going this. I've been there and it's hell, so ((HUGS)).

I had erratic betas, sometimes it would double, sometimes it wouldn't. It did continue to raise and got into the thousands. We ended up having a blighted ovum (empty sac) that was tiny at 6 weeks and continued to grown until our final ultrasound (to confirm unviability at 8 weeks). The blighted ovum was what cause our beta to continue to rise and not m/c. So perhaps you could have a sac that isn't visable yet?

Ugh, what an emotional roller coaster. I'm sorry you're going through this, hopefully on Monday you'll get some answers. Ttry to stay sane this weekend.

This happened to me as well. What exactly are your levels? You really can't see anything on a u/s until your betas are over 1,000 at the earliest. Mine slowly rose from 9 to 33 to 48 to 67 to 99 to 167 to 316 before finally falling. Dr was pushing the methotrexate shot but I begged for time b/c if you do get the shot you cannot try again for 2-3 months. As long as your levels stay below 500 I would not get the shot unless you just want to be done with the whole thing. It really does suck going for betas every 2 days knowing nothing can come of it. Pretty much the same thing happened to me with my ectopic. My betas kept doubling, not super fast, but within 72 hours each time. The first ultrasound (6w0d) showed what we thought was an irregularly shaped sac in my uterus. We went back 3 days later (6w3d) and the "sac" was gone, and they realized it had been basically a collection of blood in my uterus (kind of like a bubble). They never could find where the pregnancy actually was, but they assured me that if my betas were rising and there was nothing in my uterus but blood, then it was ectopic and it would be better to treat it *before* it could be seen in my tubes (or wherever it was).

I am so, so sorry. Did they see anything at all on the ultrasound? I am surprised they said they are sure it is not ectopic if your betas are rising at all and there is nothing in your uterus. Again, if you need to talk, I am here.
