While I do have kids, I've had 4 losses and I'm dreading going through all of that again. We just had our first IVF consult on our way for TTC a girl. I start all the preliminary testing as soon as I get my period. I hope I'm ready for this!

Hi, I'm sorry for your losses. I'm a bit confused by your post, IVF to conceive a girl? What if you have a boy? Are you doing genetic testing so that you can choose the gender?

Most women here have never had a successfully pregnancy so please e sensitive to that. I can guarantee you they would all be happy with a boy or a girl so be conscious of how your post may be interpreted. GL.

Please see the "read me first" post at the top of the board, and add a warning for "losses mentioned", and one for your other children. Both can be triggers for members of this board. GL.

I apologize if I upset anyone. We're doing IVF with PGD due to my recurrent losses. I've never done IVF before, so I'm anxious.

Hi, I think the wording of your post may have just come off wrong .

Again, very sorry for your losses. I would also recommend reading the "read me first" post and also the "IVF consult questions" post at the top. They are very helpful. If you have more specific questions feel free to ask but do be mindful of mentioning your children and losses like OP said. These women are incredible resources for information and support.

She's doing PGD specifically FOR A GIRL. She also introed on 2IF, and I will not be supporting this crap whatsoever. While I am sorry for ANYONE dealing with a loss, this OP proclaimed she has 4 boys and is doing IVF/PGD so she can finally get her girl. You all can support that shit if you want to, but IMO that is an insult to people dealing with legit IF who would kill for ANY miracle they can get, how dare a person come into any IF forum, trying to cherry pick the sex of a child.

Agreed, OP, sorry for your losses! However, you're not going to find much sympathy here when you're proclaiming you're trying to complete your gender wishes through IVF. It's not the mindset or situation of the members here.

Best of luck on another board who may be more sympathetic to your cause.

Yeah... Here I thought I was being a bitch when I first responded. I thought maybe I misinterpreted the post. Then I read the intro on 2IF and I do believe you're right. SMH.

OP do you want to clarify this or have you realized how ridiculous your plan is?

I can say it's "LEGIT".  I'm not going to air the whole reason we've been referred to IVF with PGD on a bulletin board, but the sole reason is not gender. I have 4 sons but I lost my daughter. Sorry I don't want to go into that on these boards.

And to the mod, you really should be leading by example. It really takes a certain kind of person to kick someone when they're down.

Be selective in what you include in your posts then! If you want Ivf support, say you want support because of losses, don't go into the details that will make you a target.

Girl please. If anyone kicked anyone it was YOU, having the audacity to come to the IF boards looking for support in your cause to have your daughter. Once again you reiterated that fact on 2IF. We are ALL sorry you lost your baby girl, but do you not comprehend that does not make it OK to do IVF/PGD JUST TO GET A GIRL?! Or hell, do it all day long if that's the way you want to go, but DO NOT come and expect women dealing with IF to support that shit, when we would give anything for ANY BABY AT ALL. You are on the WRONG FORUMS. 

That's me leading by example. We're not buying what you're selling. I am sure if you google "Dying for a girl" you'll find plenty of forums that will accommodate this crap. Primary IF, and Secondary IF are NOT those forums.

I am sorry for your loss but try to put yourself in our shoes.. We have been trying to have a baby, many of us for years, and you come here saying you have 4 boys and wait for us to be supportive to your IVF/PGD? Sorry but you will have to try another board.. Good luck.

I'm very sorry for your losses.  I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that your primary purpose of PGD is to avoid another m/c after 4 losses and not sex selection.

PGD for selecting the sex of your child is a very controversial (some would even say unethical) topic among the infertility community.  Personally I have no problem with someone doing PGD for medical reasons and then choosing to transfer an embryo of a certain sex.  In the end one embryo has to be chosen over the other.  My concern comes in with what your plans are if your PGD testing shows that all your only normal embryos are male.  Will you continue doing IVF until you get a normal female embryo?  Will you transfer your normal male embryos?

Again, to the wonderful mod, I am not just doing IVF for gender.
