HVAC at 44 years old. Anyone?

I'm 43 and 7 weeks along with my second. My first child, 5 years ago, ended in a cesarean, which was devastating for me. Anyone have experience with VBAC at this age? Or HVAC? I fear entering a birthing center will most certainly end in surgery. I'm an RN and fully aware of the risks involved. But I'd love some first-hand wisdom.

    Come over to the natural birth board! Go to your local ICAN meeting. I think an HBAC is your best choice if you're up for it. I see women give birth at your age all the time (I'm a doula and student midwife) but some OBs will freak out over it unnecessarily.

    I had a VBAC at age 38. I am a RN as well. I just chose to delay my arrival to the hospital as long as possible, tried natural labor for as long as possible and ended up with a healthy baby. My OB was a huge reason that my birth plan worked. I think as long as you've got the right medical team in place, you should be okay. Congrats!

    BFP May 2017. 
    BFP July 2014. Low Progesterone. DS born by repeat c-section for breech presentation.
    BFP November 2011 TWINS!!!. Lost a twin at 7 weeks. DS born VBAC.
    BFP July 2009. DD born via c/section for breech presentation.
    BFP Jan. 2009. Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.D&C March 2010
    December 2009 - Diagnosed with bicornuate uterus.

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
    Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!

    Just an anecdote. My grandmother married at 39yo and had a VBAC in her 40s in the 1940s. It can def be done :-) depending on baby cooperation! Pretty sure she was in the hospital with all of hers...
