Trouble TTC

Hello Hello! Here's my intro! (Loss mentioned)

Hi ladies! I have been lurking this board for a while now (creepy? Nah.) and have decided that I'd love to get in on all the wonderful support and community here.
T (the hubby) and I began trying for a child in the summer of 2012. We finally got pregnant after 11 months but sadly suffered a chemical pregnancy a couple days later. After the year mark I tried to get in to a RE but they refused to see me until it had been a year since our loss. A few months later I found a fertility clinic that I was able to get into and we finally began our testing. All of my tests seemed to go well, but T's S/A revealed that he had a low count as well as a morphology issue. We were diagnosed with Male Factor Infertility. Our RE recommended IUI, but we later discovered that our insurance actually covers IVF. After a lot of late night talks we decided to go forward with IVF early next year. We are so excited to have a plan in place, but scared of getting our hopes up, but we really want to give it a go!
I hope you all will have me here. I'm excited to get to know all of you. :)

A little about me:
I love martinis.
I take lots of medicine for my autoimmune disorder.
I love M*A*S*H.
^Betcha can't guess where my username came from.
I'm an artist.
I like dogs way more than people.
Reading is my favorite thing to do. ^_^
I have crazy in-laws.

Thanks for taking the time to read my intro! I know they probably aren't the most exciting things in the world. ;)

Re: Hello Hello! Here's my intro! (Loss mentioned)

  • Welcome to 3T  We're dealing with MFI also.  I would suggest having your H see a Urologist that specializes in IF.  I also love Martinis, dogs more than people and have crazy in-laws, we have a lot in common.  We're doing IVF right now, you are so lucky to have IVF coverage.  Good luck.

  • I'm sorry you find yourself here, but welcome. Personally, I think it's great that you've been lurking. :)

Our stories are pretty similar. I also started TTC in the summer of 2012, got pregnant after 11 months, and then suffered a loss (ectopic). I was also told I needed to TTC again for a year before starting to see an RE, but I actually believed that and waited until this past June to make an appointment.

Anyway, I hope you find this board helpful. Best of luck to you!

  • Sorry you have to be here, but welcome and good luck! Based on your intro it sounds like you'll fit in just fine around here. Yay to you for having IVF coverage, I'm totally jealous since we have no treatment coverage. I have no advice regarding MFI, but the other ladies seem to have covered that. I enjoy martinis, but only the gin kind. Vodka and I do not have the best history....

I'm currently working to convince him of this. He's been pretty uncooporitive during this whole ordeal and struggles with the mindset of "it's the woman's problem (courtesy of my crazy in laws). As of now he refuses to do anything beyond providing a sample for IVF. Hoping to make some progress on that front, slowly but surely. :)

Welcome to 3T . We are dealing with MFI too. Sometimes you can find a correctable issue at the urologist so try to push for it. My DH has low testosterone causing MFI and he's on Clomid to hopefully help the issue. Check out the MFI check in each Wednesday led by @lemonliz for advice/updates/support. Good luck
I will let him know this! If there's hope to correct the morphology issue perhaps he'll cave. ;)

Welcome, M&M! Twinsies - I also like dogs more than most people, my in-laws are bsc, and we're doing IVF in early 2015, too! It's very interesting having TTTC with in-laws who don't really understand the basics of reproduction or human biology. GL to you - you're in the right place!
    Yes, in laws. Oh boy.
I told T that we are not telling anyone in his family that we are doing IVF (I'm afraid they would talk him out of it and have a family intervention with me). After it's successful (if it's successful), then I'm happy to be open about it. If they can look at their own grandchild or niece/nephew and still tell me it was a sin to have my baby, then they are welcome to. They may never see either of us ever again, but that's that.

    End rant.

    I go on rants. Sorry.

  • Welcome! Sorry for your loss...it doesn't seem fair that a CP should be considered a "success" and make you wait for treatment beyond a year! Glad you found a doctor. It's wonderful that you have IVF coverage!!

I'm on lots of meds too for Crohn's (also autoimmune) but since the GP, GI, GYN, and RE each independently looked into my meds and signed off on them, I feel okay TTC! Were you also told to stay on your meds if they're keeping things stable rather than cut down before TTC?

    @bunnyberry

I was on methotrexate when we were first married. That's a HUGE no no drug. After about 6 months I decided it wasn't worth the fear of getting pregnant on it and switched to medications that are safe either during pregnancy or up until the positive test. :)
