Cloth Diapering

Fuzzibunz xs vs. Bumgenius xs

We are expecting baby number 2 in February.  I already have a pretty good fluff stash but I was thinking about adding a few newborn diapers to use at night. We did GMDs with Lil' Joey covers which we liked a lot, especially during the day.  I just think I want an easy AIO or pocket for night. We tried Swaddlebee's and Thirsties size 1 but I am not in love.

Did anyone use either of these? I like that you can add inserts to the Fuzzibunz but I like that the Bumgenius is aplix...any other suggestions? My last kiddo was a heavy wetter so I would prefer a diaper that we can add to.

Thanks mamas :)

  • I haven't used FB, but our daughter was out-peeing the BG overnight in just a few weeks.  What about blueberry simplex aios?

I am up for suggestions :) Tell me what worked for you. I am looking for something that I can use right away and that will work on little babies. My daughter was 6 lbs, 5 oz. I like the AIOs but they didn't fit her until closer to 4-5 months. The sweat pea AIOs look so soft and nice. I love that they have a pocket and aplix!

  • NB Aios should fit within the first 2-3 weeks.  We preferred prefolds, fitteds, and covers.  We used Nicki's brand (Imagine) for fitteds and prefolds, and liked rumparooz newborn covers.

  • We had both and hated the FB xs. There are no hip snaps on the xs so the leg holes were huge and I had a chunky thigh baby.

Yes, the BG xs absorbency isn't very much but nothing a mini doubler (made my own) or a cloth wipe couldn't handle just laid into the diaper. That worked perfectly until we were ready for OS diapers.

  • We liked both of these for DD. She started to outgrow the absorbency around 5-6 weeks but the fit was great for both of them. The FB were kind of annoying to stuff IMO because the pockets are so small, but we only had 3 so it wasn't that bad. Lil Joey AIOs were our absolute favorite- and really absorbent for us- but she outgrew them around 5 weeks too. We had one happy heiny mini that we loved also. A little more expensive I think but you can add absorbency and it's aplix.
