For songs we sang - there was a lot of twinkle twinkle, but because one night I couldn't think of any I spent a LONG time singing the Wheels on the Bus and ABCs, pus bits and pieces of Dave Matthews, Zac Brown Band, and any other song I could think of while sleep deprived. To this days, the Wheels on the Bus is her favorite song. So just sing whatever, or you can download songs on your iphone Pandora I think has a lullaby station to. I also have a horrible signing voice, so sometimes I let others do the singing for me

BTDT question... Maternity bras. My boobs, I am naturally busty as is, are growing in a way only my DH enjoys. And they hurt. I know soon enough I will need to swap bra sizes because I am almost popping out of my bra already. I am only 6weeks along. Is it smart to buy a maternity bra when the upgrade happens, or just buy a bigger sized regular bra for now, because they will grow anyway and later purchase one/nursing bra? And either way, any recommendations on brands etc? And what to really look for? My boobs thank you in advance.
They sell bra extenders, which might help, for a few dollars at most maternity stores. But if you're spilling out of your cup, like I do when I get pregnant, I'd suggest just going up a size in regular bras. I never bought a maternity bra... guess I'm not sure what the difference is! And I'd wait on nursing bras and get fitted towards the end of your pregnancy because, as hard as it is to believe, they're going to get bigger! I went to Motherhood to get sized properly for those.
Question: I'm having a hard time deciding what birth class(especially) to take at the hospital I will be delivering from. Baby care basics, first aid, breastfeeding, birth, tour, a little bit of everything. It's so overwhelming! Help! How did you decide? I don't want to take them all, just what is important or vital, bc they are expensive!
My favorite ice cream flavor used to be chocolate chip as a kid. Now, it's whatever I'm in the mood for.

@Ruthie04 Jesus Loves Me is our lullaby too. I even added the super not political correct third verse my grandmother taught me when I was little lol
Other than that, I find Christmas songs are generally very relaxing and well remembered. AND I took a class called "Love My Baby" and they actually teach you a TON of nursery rhymes and songs to do with your baby. If your area has a class like that I totally recommend it. Otherwise babies don't care, they love your voice and you can just make up words and a tune.

For classes we did a one day class that included a tour and all the basics of delivery, afterwards, etc. We also took a baby care class and breastfeeding. I'm CPR certified and I made H go too. (I"m a nurse).
I liked the birthing class because it was at the hospital and the nurse gave us lots of tricks and tips (like the cafeteria only accepts cash) and just having bits of info. We used some of the stuff we learned during labor too for how to get me to relax, but my midwife also did a lot.
For me the MOST helpful was the baby care class. How to give a bath, talking about the cord, etc. All the stuff during the first few days.
The breastfeeding class was a waste, for me. Trying to practice BF while you are still pregnant wasn't helpful for me at all. It was much better meeting with the lactation nurse afterwards (both in the hospital and outpatient).

Birth plan: Be on the same page as your doctor, start early and educate yourself. Take classes read books. I loved the Bradley class and the thinking woman's guide to giving birth. Also the Womanly art of breast feeding was fabulous. Make the birth plan short, simple and to the point. Also don't forget to look into what hospital policy is on what they do once baby is out. Do they do skin to skin or take baby away, give shots and eye goo and then bring them back. It's important to include a plan for a section even if you are planning vaginal also.
The body pillow, target for $10 now my toddler has it next to her mattress which is on the floor incase she rolls out because those bed rails are $35 and maternity pillows are about $50. $10 at target for years of use, so worth it.
The pediatrician and you also have to be on the same page. You need to know what you want your relationship to be like and then ask what they would do in certain situations. For example, I wanted to be able to bring my daughter in and get checked on a Friday and go home with instructions on when/if I should use an antibiotic. Normally he will write us one and tell us if x happens then fill it. If y happens then don't. Also they have a 24 hour nurse line you ca. Call with any question and the answer is not always take her to the ER if you think it's that bad. My daughter was learning to walk around Christmas and on Christmas Eve she fell and hit her head for the first time and I was a mess. They talked me down and told me what to look out for. Then they called me back to check up on her. We didn't have to go to the ER!
Thanks a lot BTDT ladies! I'm really nervous about the labor & delivery of lo but I think between your advice and just reading up on it, I'll get more comfortable with it. No other questions at the moment.
I love chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate chips.
