It's unusual?  No, it's super trendy.  Dead president (check), last name as a first name (check), recent spike in popularity (check).

I realize that Liam has the fault of also having a huge spike in popularity, but it's a legit first name with a looooong history.  I don't think these two names even compare.  Liam is worlds better.
I stand by my first statement.  Lincoln is less popular.  And if you look at the actual statistics its been in the US top 1,000 for far far longer than Liam.  Liam doesn't even appear until the 1970s and Lincoln has been there since the 1880s.  Liam is a nickname that people now use as a first.  Nothing wrong with that (and as I said, I like it).  But they are both trendy and both going up in popularity.

  • DS is Lincoln, in honor of the president, and also because naming is a joint decision and I had to agree on his name with someone who likes LNs as first names way more than I do.  To my ear it flows better with Noah than Liam does.

Liam is not a nickname - it is Irish for William.
