Cloth Diapering

Wicking

My daughter is 7 months old, and I think all her outfits have leggings as pants. They get squeezed up at the tops of her chunky thighs, and then her diapers wick. I didn't have this problem with my son when he was an infant. Her diapers will be wet, but by no means saturated, and I don't put her in baby holders (jumperoo, exersaucer) unless she's in a fresh diaper, so it's not from compression leaks. Am I missing something obvious or am I on a quest to find roomy pants for her?

Re: Wicking

  • What kind of diapers do you use? What's your wash routine? Are they new dipes or leftover from your first?

  • They're a mix of Kawaii and BG with a few Thirsties thrown in, and a pretty even mix of new v older. Maybe that's the problem. I'll have to ask daycare to help keep track of which ones leak, maybe some elastic needs to be replaced.
I don't think it's the wash, they're getting wet just oozing out the sides, too. But maybe her pants are getting caught because the legs aren't tight enough. There's no gaping, but that could be a fluke.
