Distraction

So my 5 week old son is typically a great nurser but it seems he might be getting distracted. Tonight I can't get him to nurse much past a few minutes, he pops off to stare at something elsewhere. I'm sitting here pumping because I can't get him to nurse. Is this typical? Is he able to see more and thus more distracted? He has had the right amount of diapers already but it's just not typical of him. No fever, not particularly fussy either. Is this normal?
