3rd Trimester

Birth Story

My little girl was born a week from last Tuesday. I had IUGR, and was induced early because of her size.  I was worried about having her so early at 37 weeks and whether it was necessary but ultimately listened to my doctor's advice to be induced.

Everything went really well, and my body responded well to the pitocin. My contractions became very painful, but I asked for an epidural and then pushed/delivered with ease. I really enjoyed the entire experience, which I credit to the epidural.   Meeting my little girl was one of the most wonderful moments of my life.

My doctor believes that my placenta had started to calcify and that the umbilical cord not have sufficient blood in it when she was born, so thank god, she had me induced early.

No major complications after birth, she has had to eat every 2 hours, so I'm sleep deprived. Her jaundice worsened after taking her home and we had to go back to the hospital after a week so that she could be placed under the lights.   It was scary having to bring her back to the hospital and spending another night in the hospital does not help with the sleep deprivation, but  all and all I'm happy I have a healthy little girl. Thanks everyone for the support and kind words and good luck with your little ones!
