Pregnant Interview Attire

So, I got an interview for my dream job today (which is awesome). It's a assistant professor position in academia at a large research university. Currently I am 26 weeks pregnant (with a obvious bump). The interview will be in the middle to end of this month (although the position itself would not start until summer, this stuff typically has a fairly long lead time). My question is what to wear, or where to find it? Typically, these interviews at 2 days, and on the day I've given a seminar before I've worn a suit, and on the other day pants or a skirt with a blazer. Does anyone have any ideas? My maternity wardrobe is sorely lacking in nicer things, as at my current institution most days I can just wear jeans. Thanks in advance :)

Re: Pregnant Interview Attire

  • I have a black dress from Target that I found on sale for $8. I get lots of compliments on it. It basically looks like one of those suit dresses (knee length) but without the blazer component.
  • Do you have any working mom friends you can borrow from?

  • I got pants, skirts, and tops from Motherhood Maternity (look at their clearance racks!) and paired those with non-maternity jackets, unbuttoned. And I got several nice dresses from Target that I got tons of compliments on. I also wore those with non-maternity jackets. I frankly think Target was higher quality than Motherhood Maternity at a fraction of the cost.
  • I would do slacks (either maternity or regular with a bella band), a blouse (I love the one @emmyg65 linked to!) and a blazer from one of your suits unbuttoned. Unless you're in a really corporate environment, I think a full on suit isn't necessary for an interview, especially when you're pregnant.
  • Awesome, thank you for the advice. I've got some shopping to do it looks like, but at least now I have a good idea of where to look.
