Is my kid a weirdo?

So I have a 15 month old little boy who loves petting other kids. Is this normal or totally bazaar? He isn't hitting, it seems like he is trying to soothe the other kids...but the other moms at story time and baby gym are giving me serious side-eye. 

Dr. Google is only coming up with recommendations for super aggressive kids or introducing your toddler to dogs. Do you guys have any recommendations or advice?
