Trouble TTC

Anyone have a lighter AF after Clomid? (Child in siggy$

This is my first month on Clomid and AF arrived today. Usually I have really heavy flow for 2 days, medium for a day, light for a day and then spotting. Today was heavy in the PM but it's already tapered off to medium flow?!? RE noticed my lining was really thin yesterday at my U/S. Is this normal? Does it effect when I can take my Clomid (currently scheduled for cycle days 5-9) if AF is totally over by then? Thanks!!!
Baby is fpies to diary, soy, rice, squash, and sweet potatoes.

Re: Anyone have a lighter AF after Clomid? (Child in siggy$

  • Thin lining at baseline is normal because the lining is shedding at that point. Did you receive monitoring mid-cycle to check on follie growth? That should let the nurse/doctor know if your lining is getting too thin. Basically it gradually thickens in the follicular phase until it's cushy for implantation. By the time you have a mature follicle, the lining should preferably be at least 8mm+, and 10mm+ gets slightly high BFPs. If Clomid is working well but starting to thin the lining, there are meds that can counteract the effect if your RE feels it's worth continuing on Clomid. For example, I naturally have a thin lining, so even on Femara I take estradiol (Estrace) from mid-cycle on.

Sometimes, a period is lighter because you ovulated a little earlier or had a little shorter luteal phase (less time to build up the lining - but not necessarily too thin). Having some heavy and medium flow, it doesn't sound like an indicator of a problem, but I would probably ask the nurse what my lining was and how they feel about it.

  • Thanks! The ultrasound was actually on the day I started spotting right before cycle day 1 so that's why I was confused as to why it was so thin. I was seeing an OB last cycle and she did no monitoring which is why I made the switch to an RE this cycle. She refused to do a 7 DPO blood draw since I didn't ovulate until cycle day 23 she said it was just to see "if I ovulated at the right time and I clearly didn't". I'm pretty glad I switched!

  • My periods are definitely different since starting the Clomid.  The first month on it I had cramps like I have never had in my life - I was sure something was wrong, but they said that can happen.
