For those of you with LOs in toddler beds or convertible cribs, how are you putting them to sleep? Do they stay in their beds?
DD does not stay put, and usually lets me rock her to sleep. We had started putting her down awake, and it was goin great...until she learned how to climb out a week later.
We baby gate in her door way and leave the door cracked. She's having a horrible time with naps, because I can't stay in her room (too much of a distraction) but I also feel like if I don't stay in til she's asleep, she just plays around forever and doesn't sleep.
Any tips?
Our little Samosa arrives in January!
Re: Ugh, sleep struggles
For night time, I usually sing/rock him for a minute or two (just to drowsy) and put him down. The room is completely dark and I shut the door. He runs around his room, sometimes just for a minute and sometimes up to 1/2 hour, but always ends up back in his bed and puts himself to sleep.
Naps haven't been quite so easy - I've always rocked him to sleep for naps so I still do and I get him down just fine, but when he wakes up (same scenario with door closed) he won't put himself back to sleep. His naps have gone down from 2 hours to 45 mins-1 hour. He seems ok so I'm trying to just deal with it and put him to bed on time or early, but I miss my mid-day get things done session on weekends! FWIW, he sleeps on a mat at daycare during the week and naps anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on the day.
