Children's Literature

Benjamin has been sitting quietly and listening to me read The Wind in the Willows for the past few weeks during his bedtime bottle. I read a lot as a kid, but wasn't read to very much. What books do you all like or remember fondly? I'm looking for more of the longer stuff, preferably with illustrations throughout.

I don't mind reading the short kids' books over and over and over during the day, but at bedtime I just can't do it. Most of the stuff I really remember is for early readers (Amelia Bedelia, Henry and Mudge) or Judy Blume type stuff. I'm loving The Wind in the Willows and that there have been 1-2 words every night that even I've had to look up!

I remember being read to a lot, but very little of what we actually ready.

The only thing I do remember are the Beatrix Potter books.

There are books with short stories for kids too, they tend to have more pictures.
we have one with Disney princess stories, a Bible story book, and a Curious George one.
I'll admit I did not read much as a kid, but I recall my mom reading Anne of Green Gables to me some.

A Wrinkle In Time. I love that book! I hear the makers of Frozen are trying to make it into their next animated feature. I'm not sure it would transfer well.

@dmlk413‌ your book knowledge always impresses me!

If you want longer books (chapter books):
    -Anne of Green Gables series
-The Secret Garden (and Frances Hodgson Burnett's other books)
    -Chronicles of Narnia
    -Winnie the Pooh

For shorter books (but longer than board books):
    -Miss Nelson is Missing
    -Corduroy Series
    -the longer Dr. Seuss books
    -Berenstein Bears

I wasn't read to but I loved Eric carle, Bernstein bears, and the Madeline books. I did get a book of real Grimm fairy tales I want to start reading. Right now I'm just reading the same board books she had along with max und moritz to help her german.

Hi, vitafelix! I love reading bedtime stories to my niece whenever she stays over at my place. Here are a few that Benjamin might enjoy!

    1. The Boy and the Ocean

    2. Go Away, Dark Night

    3. Precious Moments: Little Book of Bedtime

    4. God Bless You & Good Night

    I hope these suggestions help!
