Anyone experience fibroids while pregnant?

Hi all!

I was just told that I have a fribroid the size of a grapefruit. It's been extremely painful with two trips to the ER and my regular obgyn. To fine out there is nothing they can do since I am pregnant. (Normally they would do surgery to have it removed) so I am told you have to wait it out and it will shrink but there wasn't a timeframe. I'm curious if anyone has experienced what got you through the day/ days. Any advice would be helpful

Thanks!
Tired of being in pain

I had three last pregnancy, one the size of a baseball in my birth canal, which they removed during my cs. None of my fibroids were particularly painful last pregnancy, and I thought that was normal, but I could be completely wrong as I am no medical expert! I experienced normal pregnancy aches and pains, but all could be explained through normal pregnancy symptoms. I have heard when fibroids die they came be super painful, so maybe that's what you are experiencing, and maybe relief is on the way!

I just found out I have a lot of very small fibroids all over my uterus on my nt scan. I have an appt with my ob on weds and hope to find out more.. I've been spotting on and off for weeks and think this may be the reason

Im interested to hear how fibroids are affecting others

I have one the size of a quarter that hasn't changed since my last pregnancy. My OB says they are super super common and not usually a threat to the pregnancy.
    Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!!

Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)

My boss has 2 of them.. & bad! She's due in dec and she has just had lots of pain and one did start to shrink/die and ended up in the er! She is just told to rest as much as possible so the pain is more tolerable! I hope you start to feel better!

same here i have one that has doubled in size since my first appt! yea they cant do anything about it they just warn you about the discomfort and pain. I'm seeing a specialist as well as my ob and the specialist mentioned that there is pain medication that they can give you but you can only take it for 3 days because of potential damage to the baby! (no thanks ill take the pain) for now it just feel like i have painful gas nothing too bad just yet. Good luck!

my mom and I were just discussing this yesterday.  I was breech and born via c/s, and while she was in the surgery they removed fibroids.  24 years later she had emergency surgery to remove scar tissue from that...it had started to come loose (I think...something like that) and made her really sick.  yikes...but that was 1984 and I'm sure the process for removal is a lot better now.

it came up because I had an elective ultrasound yesterday (little baby..squeee!!!) and the tech found a 7 cm cyst on my right ovary.  I don't think it's a big deal now but enough that the tech decided to change it from a "for entertainment only" u/s where I paid out of pocket to a diagnostic and they want to submit to insurance.  I go back for my first OB meeting in 2 weeks, if I don't hear from them before then I will assume it's ok and try not to worry about it.

I had a myomectomy in May of this year to surgically remove a submucosal fibroid that was growing at the entry to my uterus...the removal, I believe,  allowed me to finally get my BFP after years of trying!     it only took two months of trying post op :)

And, its growing back,  which is not surprising.  I also have a few intramural fibroids (free floating)  which sounds like what you all are describing.

From what I understand the fibroids may not have any affect on pregnancy,  or may cause pain, and in my case is likely to force a cs for delivery.

At least my dr's opinion is that the intramural (floating) fibroids are generally out of the way and not a factor for most pregnancies.   The submucosal in my case, due to its location within the uterus,  could cause me to be on bedrest by the third trimester,  but the only thing to do is wait and see :)

I am sorry you ladies are going through this!  The good news is my understanding is that they are generally not harmful to the baby,  I hope that they  do not cause anyone any discomfort!

Having one the size of a grapefruit sounds quite painful,  hopefully if they remove it at delivery you will find that you are much more comfortable afterword!
