Costume idea for 3 yr old boy

What is your 3 yr old DS going to be for Halloween? I feel like there are so many costumes that seem more like little boy costumes vs. cute toddler costumes. I feel like at 3 you can still dress them cute before they get into the more boyish themes like Power Rangers, Star Wars, etc.

  • My ds was to be toothless the dragon from how to train a dragon.

  • DS, nearly 3, wants to be Batman. So, Batman it is. I would have loved a costume that went with DD's costume, but he was adamant on Batman.

  • DS is 2, but he will be Cat in the Hat.

  • DS is 2 and I think he wants to be Spiderman.  At 3 though I'd think they'd have a pretty strong opinion on what they want to be.  DD is 3 and she is being Cinderella and there are no other options.
  • When DS1 was 2, he was a cowbow for Halloween and when he was 3 he was Buzz Lightyear.  DS2 is going to be a minion and has no opinion whatsoever.  We tried to choose something we knew he likes.

This!  Rather than racking your brain trying to figure out how to dress him why not ask him what he wants to be.  Last year I chose DD's costume.  She was 18 months and MIL helped me sew a Minnie dress for her and make ears.  This year at 2.5 DD is adamant about being Mickey Mouse.  She will look adorable and she is super excited because it's what SHE wants to be.

I should of added, I did ask him, and it changes a lot so I will go with one of his ideas at the end but was just curious with what others went with.

I got a really cute dinosaur costume at Old Navy for DS1 last year when he was 2 years 8 months old.  It was a little more babyish and totally adorable!  This year DS2 (2 years and 2 months old) will be a tiger.  I bought it for DS1's first Halloween to go trick-or-treating, but he was sick.  Glad I can try to use it again.  It's adorable, too.  It's from Carters but I bought it on Ebay.

  • That was the year I took DS to Target 3 days before Halloween.  The only costume in his size was a skeleton.  It looked good, and he loved wearing it.  I saved it for DD to wear when she is 3.

DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.
  • I feel like at 3 you can still dress them cute before they get into the more boyish themes like Power Rangers, Star Wars, etc.
LOL - my 2 year-old DD is going to be Darth Vader for Halloween this year (her choice mainly because Chewbacca was not available). I have nothing of value to contribute other than take him to the store and let him pick or if you're going to make it yourself, ask him/show him pictures and have him pick.
  • 3 year old son is being scooby doo!
  • My 3 year old wanted to be Wilson from Chuggington.  So that's what he's going to be.

  • DS is almost 2 1/2 and he's being Olaf because DD is being Elsa.  I'm surprised I'm getting to pick because I remember DD having a pretty strong opinion about it at 2 1/2.  I'm pretty sure this is my last year picking, it will also be his last year being something cute I suspect.  DH is also pretty upset about this Olaf thing.  DS was the Hulk last year, DH fought for that, so if at 3 we get to pick, it will be DH's choice again and I'm sure he'll be some boyish thing.

My DD is deciding between Sully and Mike from Monsters, Inc.!

  • My DS is 2 so when I ask him what he wants to be for halloween he just says no. So it was up to me. He is going to be going as a scuba diver.

  • Some ideas from my reddit research: Curious George, a honey bee, elmo, cookie monster and big bird, USAF Pilot, a ladybug, a hulk, Jesse from Toy Story.

Hope that helps and let us know what you end up selecting!

I think we might go with a train conductor since he loves trains.

  • Cat in the hat. He loves Dr. Suess series and this is what he chose to be this year. And this is going to be diy, so I hope it comes out good.
  • DS is 2 and he is going to be Max from where the wild things are. If he wasn't that he was going to be Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.

  • I asked him what he wanted to be - he said Batman. So Batman it is.

I have no clue how he even knows who batman is, but it makes him happy.
