N14 Twins Check In (9/29)

Welcome to *almost* October. It's close enough, right? I'm calling it. Hope everyone had a great weekend and is enjoying the reprieve from heat of the summer months. (I know I'm personally not a huge fan of fall -- I love hot weather and summer -- and even I'm rejoicing that the temperatures are finally taking a dip).

Business as usual...

How are you feeling? What's on your mind? Give us an update!

...and a random question

What's your favorite Halloween candy?

Re: N14 Twins Check In (9/29)

  • This has been a quiet week thankfully!  Blood pressure is still stable and normal.  I have been trying to take it easier lately.  Saw my doctor today and she said everything is measuring great.  I have my first NST tomorrow and an ultrasound on Wednesday.  Can't wait to see these little guys again!

QOTW:  Sour patch kids or Kit Kats.  That's a tough one!

  • Hey Ladies,

I missed last weeks check in because I had my high risk appt on Friday. So I was waiting to update..

So baby A is measuring 4lbs 9oz and Baby B is measuring 4lbs 4oz both babies are BREECH :(( so they are scheduling a C-section. Of course the high risk OB that I have been seeing for the last 7 months took a personal day on Friday so the other MFM doc made up my delivery recommendations and said 37 weeks for the c/s which isn't what the other doctor had discussed with us. He had said more like 35 weeks due to all my risk factors. Tomorrow is my first NST as well so I am going to try to talk to the MFM doctor that we see since it I are same building. I also went on Friday am for my GD tolerance test( I have been really bad about going) well surprise I failed by 9 points so I have to take the 3 hour :(( I also have severe anemia my numbers are like non-existent so I have to take iron supplements. Plus now my risk of having a blood transfusion during/ after the section is high. I just can't seem to catch a break. I am starting to feel hopeless and helpless. I am very thankful that both babies are healthy and growing, but I just want a bunch of positivity at one appointment and it isn't happening. I also have to meet with the anesthesiologist department because I am allergic to narcotics and codeine so I am not sure what they are going to use during the section. I have an appointment with my regular OB on Wednesday so I have a list of questions for her. Other than all that fun stuff my blood pressure is still borderline high. I am tired all the time, plus this heartburn is wicked.

My favorite candy is Almond Joy

I love all the nurseries!!! I am so jealous we are looking for a new house still so I won't be able to do anything for the twins until we find one, we plan to keep the babies in our room until we do.
  • I'm going to update before my appointment on Thursday...so hopefully not going to jinx anything. All my complaints are relatively minor, so hopefully stay that way!

    Updates
    ..

    The Good
    • My foot swelling has gone down...at least this weekend and today. Probably because I managed to stay down (for the most part) and keep them elevated. I'll likely be singing a different story tomorrow after being back at work.
    • I had enough energy to make about 12 loaves of zucchini bread this weekend (overproducing plant much?). I'm freezing it for quick snacks this fall/winter. Oh, AND I finally organized the guest room disaster (from when I cleaned out everything in the nursery) so we actually have a functioning space.
    • DH FTW this weekend. He surprised me by taking me out to dinner on Friday and then did all the grocery shopping before I got up on Sunday. I feel very lucky :-)
    • Our stroller came! I don't know if I'll ever figure out how to use it, but it's here.

The Bad (all minor things -- thankfully)

    • Third tri nausea is a beeatch. I want none of the foods and I'm struggling to try to keep up on my water intake (yes, I know. Very important right now!)
    • Sleep sucks. I can't get comfortable, if I lay on my left side Willa gets all pissy and if I lay on my right side Ari headbutts until I move.
    • I just want to pee like a normal person again.
    • I am starting to panic about silly FTM things like "Oh my god. My life is going to change forever!" (usually when I'm lying awake at night because I have to pee or can't get comfortable).
    • I stumbled upon some mirror "before" pics I took right after we got our BFP. You could see my ribs. I was so tiny. I am never going to be that tiny again. Normally I've been so pro-weight gain and whatever it takes for the health of the babies and it's so vain and silly, but I'm mourning the loss of my pre-pregnancy body. I know I can get in shape again, but I know I will never look the same. It's so stupid -- especially after all we've been through to have these babies -- and I feel guilty for even thinking it. Which then makes me feel worse.

    What's your favorite Halloween candy?

I usually try to pick all the Lemonheads and Reese's peanut butter cups out of the mix we give trick or treaters. Sorry, kids! Those are mine!

  • @missvolvo - I'm glad everything is still going great! Oooh....and sour patch kids. Mmm. I like those ones, too!

@Amandakea15 - Sorry you can't seem to catch a break! Hopefully you will on your three hour test? As for the anemia, yeah, I feel you there with numbers that are damn near "non-existant" and having the threat of a blood transfusion. I'm guessing they have you on prescription iron supplements. That's what they had to do for me at my last appointment. They haven't been rechecked yet so hopefully it's working somewhat.

  • How are you feeling? What's on your mind? Give us an update!

Had an appointment with my doctor today and I got good and bad news. Good news is he girls are balanced in weight now at 3 lbs and change each at 31 weeks and 4 days and they look healthy she feels no pressure on cervix and it feels closed however the cervix has started to funnel through ultrasound from 4 cm to 2 cm so it has to be monitored. I really want my girls to wait a little longer and get as close to 5lbs as possible is that so much to ask? On top of that both heads were down now baby A (Lyric) is head down but going across diagonally and baby B (Brooklyn) is completely transverse and she has been moving and moving non stop!

I'm just hoping everything else runs smoothly with this pregnancy and that babies and me are healthy. God is in control so I pray all will be well.

@missvolvo‌ glad to hear things are looking well @absolutelymaybe‌ I can relate to you on the restless sleeping. It hasn't been too fun these last few nights @Amandakea15‌ sorry to hear of all the challenges I hope you get all good news next time and glad to hear babies have good weight! @morrkim‌ awesome you've made it to 34 weeks and wishing you well to the grand finale

    What's your favorite Halloween candy?

I love snickers and sour patch candy.

  • @Amandakea15‌ Thinking of you & hoping these next few weeks go as smooth as possible. We're almost there!

@absolutelymaybe‌ Zucchini bread is my favorite! Yum :) "Sleeping" is a sore subject here, too.

AFM- I think I updated last week about our moving drama. Well, DH played the "my wife is 32 weeks pregnant w/ twins" card, so thankfully our new landlord agreed to us moving in early on Columbus Day weekend. I'll be just about 34 weeks - still cutting it close, but beats our original move in date of November 1st! Fingers crossed that we'll be mostly settled in before the girls make their debut.

Otherwise, just dealing w/ the usual heartburn & nausea. Struggling to eat without feeling miserable. Today's menu consisted of yogurt, Cheerios, and a Special K bar. I can't wait to enjoy good food again!

I'm noticing a bunch of scary looking varicose veins popping up in my legs - anyone else getting them? Ugh.

QOTW- Another vote for Reese's. Really anything chocolate works for me though!

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

I'm feeling okay. Not great, not horrible. Same ole story -- hips hurts, peeing all.the.time, and an elephant has taken up permanent residence on top of my lungs (lol).  My first NST is on Friday and then it's twice a week until delivery.

I'm taking a trip to BuyBuyBaby tomorrow to pick a few things I'd forgotten about (dual video monitor w/ my 20% coupon! and Medela hydrogel pads -- if you plan on nursing, these are GREAT for nipple relief those first couple weeks!). Then I plan to stay close to home because I get exhausted so easily just running to Target.

    What's your favorite Halloween candy?
Reese's peanut butter cups and Snickers. Give me all the chocolate! :)

  • I'm feeling just ok... I'll split it up into good and bad as well, I like that format!
    The Good:
-At my OB appt Thurs she said she's happy to see that both babies are head down and baby A is bigger so I should be able to have a vaginal delivery.
-Had some great lunch dates with girlfriends this weekend and we had gorgeous weather, days where you just can't NOT be happy!
    - AFLAC is coming through with my disability insurance this week since I had to stop because of the carpal tunnel, thank goodness for that!
    The Bad:
-Lots of pelvic joint pain, pretty sure I look like a penguin waddling when I walk.  The belly weight is starting to kill my back.  Very hard to get comfortable even when sitting or laying down.
-Tired of peeing every hour (or more).

QOTW: Reese's! Not that I'm one to turn down any candy :) Except candy corn, hate that stuff

@yess0311 How are those babies doing? And yourself?
@Amandakea15 Sorry you're having such a rough time.  Just remember you're in the home stretch!  Hoping things take a better turn for you.
@absolutelymaybe Yum zucchini bread, that sounds amazing!  I was having some similar thoughts over the weekend.  I got pregnant on my honeymoon so I had a great "wedding body" and I came across some pictures and was a bit sad.  Also, since we got pregnant so quickly, I felt like our "honeymoon phase" was cut short and that made me a little sad too that it will never be just my husband and me again.  Luckily, I snapped out of that mood because that was a bummer and I really am so happy and excited for these babies!
@MrsC430 Great time to play that card!  Hope your move goes smoothly!!

  • I feel worse here lately. I literally am only getting a few hours of sleep ( I guess my body is preparing me for the sleepless nights ahead of me).my hips and groin area hurt so bad, I'm constantly tossing and turning from side to side, these restless legs have got to go! Other than that I'm not doing too bad!

Nursery is completely finished, bags for the hospital are in the van! I'm so excited to meet these two little blessings:)

What's your favorite Halloween candy? Bit o honey..yummm, and anything chocolate.
  • Thank you all for the happy thoughts!!! I am hoping the next few weeks are uneventful! @missvolvo‌ Yes breech is awful. I think I am just so scared of the c/s because I haven't had one. Plus the idea of being strapped down doesn't appeal to me.. Happy healthy babies is the end game no matter how they get here. @MrsC430‌ I unfortunately have those awful varicose veins :( mostly on the side of my knee. I know due to excess blood flow it makes them more prominent.
