Cycle Day 29 and still no signs of AF w BFN

Hi Ladies,
I am 4 cycles off of the pill.  Last month I had a 25 day cycle and before that a 29 day cycle so they are by no means regular.  However, what is regular is my very present PMS which usually includes very noticeable and uncomfortable bloating and cramping in the 1-2 days immediately before AF arrives.  Since cycle day 25 passed without any of those symptoms and now I am on CD 28 still without my PMS symptoms I a wondering if a BFP is in my future.  Whats weird though is that I charted by BBT this cycle and did not have a clear indication of O.  I know it is way to soon to get excited and I am not well educated on the symptoms of early pregnancy but I don't feel anything out of the ordinary.  Any thoughts?

So, at the suggestion of the community I did an FRER and got a BFN this morning, CD 29.  However, still no sign of AF, no cramping or bloating as I usually have.  I have never gone past a 29 day cycle.  I am thinking either she will show up out of the blue tomorrow morning or I will POAS on Wednesday or Thursday or Friday maybe.

Hmm, it's been a while but I think you can do a google search to see which ones are more accurate for early testing but if AF is due then I think most of them will work.

  • I'd pee on a stick - a FRER would probably be best.  However, if you haven't had clear indication of O yet, you may be having a long cycle.  If your test is negative, continue charting your BBT.  Have you considered using OPKs?  They can also help you detect your LH surge. Just something else to add to your arsenal of figuring out what's going on with your body.  Good luck.

(My fifth cycle off BCPs, I had a 57 day cycle (detected O on day 44 or so).  BCPs can make your cycle wonky for a while).

  • Wow, I guess they can be pretty erratic then.  Yes, I have my Clear Blue Monitor, that my gf loaned me, all ready and waiting to get set for the first day of my next cycle.  My OB said he finds that more reliable them BBT charting.  Maybe I'll pick up a test on the way home from work. Thanks!
  • I would continue using the BBT as well.  Sometimes it takes a few cycles for the monitor to learn your body and it can't tell you if you actually ovulated.  Good Luck with the test.  If it comes back positive, the Pregnant after 35 board is a place you will love.  If not, hang out here with us a while longer.

  • Just out of curiosity, what was your longest cycle to date? I'd imagine that even if your cycle is not regular in the sense of always starting on day 28, if you very rarely go past x number of days in your cycle and you're getting close to that max limit, you should be able to test and possibly get a good result. From my understanding (which isn't necessarily that great), they do get more accurate the closer to your normal period date, but they can detect positives up to 5 days prior (with lower accuracy).

  • The first cycle I wasn't really counting, I was just excited that I got my period at all, but since then it was 29 and then 25, now I am on CD 28.  I can't imagine it jumping to 30+ days but who knows.
  • yep, i'd take a test :)

  • A regular cycle can vary by a few days one way or the other.  The first cycle off bc may not have been a good benchmark anyway to be completely honest.  POAS, you are probably 11 - 13 DPO and that should give you a somewhat accurate result.  If you get a negative, but don't get AF, test again in 3 or 4 days.
