  • How did your last week go? Psssssh.  Not awesome.  Not terrible.  I had a slew of high numbers Friday and Saturday but it seems to have worked out.  Some I expected to be borderline but have eaten the exact same meals before and was fine.  Despite that, all of my fasting numbers have been perfect, so I like that.  :)  Must have been something else (less water, less snacking, less sleep) affecting things.

Any tips or tricks to share? My husband found Little Bites Pumpkin Muffin packs.  They are within the carb range for my snacks!  I am SOOOO HAPPY!

Vents/Complaints/Upcoming Appts/AWs: NST on Wednesday.  I love them.  Love seeing her little heartbeat change.  <3  Last week my doctor walked in the room, glanced across the room at the printout and said, "Perfect!" then walked over.  She said when you can tell it's perfect from across the room LO is doing a GREAT job.  Love it!!!!  <3  I also have an appt with my high risk OB on Wednesday, but that's blood clotting related so I'll leave the details out.  Routine appt.  :)

GTKY: What are your most excited about for baby?  What are you most anxious/worried/scared about?  I really want to know what she looks like and cuddle/snuggle her.  I think I am most excited about that.  With that, the idea of her calming down when I hold her is so wonderful.  Being her comfort.  <3  I am probably most anxious about breastfeeding and the lack of sleep!  I hear it can be so hard.

  • How did your last week go? so far so good. I saw my ob this past tues & he was happy with my #s. I found some sugar-free & reg candy at the Russell Stover store that fit into the carbs & sugar diet :)

Any tips or tricks to share?none that I can think of. I've just been watching proportion sizes when I choose carb-heavy foods.

Vents/Complaints/Upcoming Appts/AWs:having a hard time with veggies, I choose green beans a lot, but taters, peas & carrots are my favs. Damn my favs having to be proportioned. Dh & I are doing a birthing class on Saturday, he's less than thrilled.

GTKY: What are your most excited about for baby? What are you most anxious/worried/scared about? I'm excited to see him. Pictures of sleeping little babies bring the biggest wave of happiness to me that I think I've ever felt. I'm most anxious trying to prepare myself for birth, it's all such an unknown & I never believed I'd be here, so I haven't put much thought into it until now. I still have some denial that it's really happening.

  • T1 checking in!

How did your last week go?
Good!  We had pizza over the weekend and I must've bolused perfectly because there ws no spike!!  Woohoo!

Any tips or tricks to share?
    Not really!

    Vents/Complaints/Upcoming Appts/AWs:
Everything hurts.  Carpal Tunnel and my swollen/burning feet are torture.

GTKY: What are your most excited about for baby?  What are you most anxious/worried/scared about?
Other than meeting baby and snuggles and seeing what this baby looks like, I'm most excited to not be pregnant any more.  I'm really miserable and have no idea how I'm going to get through the next few weeks.  I wish we were rich and I could just take time off and gestate.

I'm most anxious/nervous about how everything will go down with labor/delivery/C-section and breastfeeding and how BF will affect diabetes and vice versa.

  • @KMW08 Crap!  Yes, birth!  I am terrified.  We just finished our birth class and I was near tears.  Granted, I will be induced and epiduraled (hopefully) there are a whole bunch of anxiety things that come from that too!  And post partum wound care.  ... ...  Sigh.

  • How did Last week go:  Pretty well numbers were all good, weekends seem to be the biggest killer for me though.  Probably because I'm not in my normal routine but they aren't to bad.

Any tips or tricks to share: Nothing new to share

Vents/Complaints/Upcoming Appts/AWs:Well this wednesday is me and DH 3rd wedding anniversary.  We are going to this pretty good brewery/restaurant (soon I will get to drink their beer)  They have this super amazing dessert I really want to get, MH said we could get it just can't eat the whole thing and we can take the rest home which i'm A OK with. SO that is something to look forward to.  Have another Non-Stress Test this thursday, hopefully I figured out the timing for eating because she was very much awake last week during the test, so I didn't have to be on it longer then need be.  So hopefully the same thing will happen this week.

GTKY What are you most excited about for baby?  What are you most anxious/worried/scared about?  I'm very much excited for baby to just be here and hold her.  I'm also pretty scared and anxious about being a mom.

  • How did last week go? The overnight put a bit of a crimp in things. There were a couple highs midday, but that went away. Fasting has been good for mornings so that is great, the glyburide seems to help. However, I am still struggling with ketones.

Tips/tricks? None, really. I do find it easier to pre-make snacks so I don't miss them and are easy to pack in my lunch in the morning.

I have another appointment this week with the nurse for my numbers, so I don't know what she will have to say about my ketones. But otherwise I think I am in a good spot.

Anxious/excited? I don't want this baby yet. I hope I don't have to go in and can wait for my appointment on Thursday, but we shall see. I am waiting for the midwife to call back. I am excited for when I can stop worrying about how the gestational diabetes is/ could be affecting the baby.
  • @lil_shocker  Me too!  I am so worried about hurting her.  Isn't it funny how we take better care of them then ourselves?  Like I am sure I would flub my numbers more if she wasn't affected!

  • Yeah, and I understand that a lot of it is out of my control, but I still worry. I do need to be careful about my weight and diet after I think, but that isn't as scary to me as not knowing what the heck is going on with this little one in my womb.
  • How did Last week go:  I've had a few high readings, mostly for my fasting numbers, but other than that, I am doing.  The glyburide is helping with my fasting numbers, but the doctor wants to up the dosage so all of my fasting numbers are below 90.  I've only been on glyburide for a week now, so I told her to hold off and let's give it more time.

Any tips or tricks to share: Nothing to share.

Vents/Complaints/Upcoming Appts/AWs:  I have my first pelvic exam this Thursday (35 week exam).  I am anxious about how uncomfortable it will be, but I definitely want to know if I am dilated yet.  My baby is measuring large (6 lbs 15 oz) as of last week, but she is scoring great on her BPP tests each week.  The doc just keeps saying, "We have a big baby," but she hasn't made any mention of inducing or c-section (which is okay by me).  I am keeping my fingers crossed that she won't push for a c-section.  Large baby or not, I want to give vaginal delivery a try before a c-section is considered.  I also had an endo visit this week.  My A1C level was 5.5, so I am happy that it is within normal range.  My thyroid is performing better as well, since I started synthroid 6 weeks ago.

GTKY What are you most excited about for baby?  What are you most anxious/worried/scared about?  I am really looking forward to how my husband will react to the new baby.  He's very reserved and doesn't show much emotion, but I think this baby is going to bring out his emotions.  I can't wait to see him hold her.  I am most anxious about when I will go into labor or if I will be induced.  I am a planner, and the uncertainty is killing me.  I need to get through one more payroll at work (on Oct 10th), and then she can come at any time.

  • How did your last week go? It went well.  I'm starting to question my diagnosis which is not good.  I'm sure they were right.  But I was SUPER stressed the day/week I tested and I wonder if it threw off the results.  At my baby shower Saturday I had a cake pop with my lunch thinking I would just deal with the higher number and I tested just over 100 (106 I think it was).  I was shocked and that night while I was making chocolate chip cookies for a coworker I decided to try 2 of them as my evening snack.  I tested under 100.  What?  This doesn't make sense.  And almost all my other numbers have been spot on.  In the month that I have been doing this I've maybe gone over a handful of times.  I just hate the thought of doing this when I don't need to be.  I hate needles.

Any tips or tricks to share? That crustless pizza recipe I shared a couple weeks ago, if you make it, I recommend increasing the Parmesan cheese to 3/4 cup.

Vents/Complaints/Upcoming Appts/AWs: I guess my vent in how I did this week should have gone here.  I turn in my numbers to my Endo tomorrow.  I'm not worried about them at all.  My OB said Thursday that she was happy with them and happy with the baby's progress.

GTKY: What are your most excited about for baby?  What are you most anxious/worried/scared about?  I'm excited to see my husband be a daddy.  He is going to be such a good one.  And I'm excited to be the one that he or she turns to for comfort.  I see that with my sister and nephews and so want that.
I'm anxious about doing a med-free birth but really want to do one.  And the lack of sleep, I don't do well with lack of sleep.

  • I just wanted to share that last night I said screw it and went to Coldstone with my husband.  We split a Peanut Butter Cup Perfection.  Not only was my post-dinner number within range, but my fasting one this morning was too.  This is not good for my willpower to know that I got away with it...  But it was DELICIOUS!

  • @babysis013 I think that sometimes too.  I drink regular Dr. Pepper still with meals and my numbers are still within range.  I just get a few high numbers here or there and that is mostly just from eating to much.  I think it's just a precaution because I know before they tested me my portions and times that I ate where all crazy

Thanks @Dumbgurl04 I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.  I turned in 2 weeks of numbers Tuesday and heard back today that they aren't too happy with a few of my after breakfast 2 hour numbers being 121-123 and that I need to send numbers in a week to have them look at them.  If I don't get them in check they will look at starting me on medicine.  Guess there is no margin of error here.  Under 120 or else.

  • Has anyone asked if we still need to monitor our sugars after we deliver? I so want some cake with ice cream right now and need to mentally prepare if we have to continue our routine for weeks afterwards.

If no one has, I will ask my doctor on Monday and share with the group.

  • I think they test the glucose drink again sometime after birth to see whether you respond normally, but I don't know exactly when.

As for me, I will probably continue to monitor myself until my strips or lancets are gone, even if I get the all clear. I have a family history of diabetes, so I am sure that I will continue on some version of the diet afterwards, and I might as well use them instead of throwing them.
  • @Turtles7 my doctor's office said about 6 weeks after birth they test you again.  It could be different depending on your doctor though

  • @turtles7 I am wondering the same thing!  The strips are $120 for 200 for me and that's a 50 day supply.  I am inducing in a little over three weeks so only want to fill half of it if I can.  Curious what you find out.

  • @lilwatz Wow $120 for 200 is not bad. I'm paying $120 for 100. I tried to fill half but I would need a new script to be able to use my insurance. Didn't want to deal with that so I filled the whole script again.

@dumbgurl04 Thanks. I was hoping you wouldn't say that though. I just want to be able to eat whatever I want. lol

I had pancakes with syrup and oj for breakfast about an hour after A was born (7:06 AM).  You can go back to eating normally as soon as baby is outside.  I carb and sugar binged for like a straight 2 weeks.  :)  And H brought me Five Guys burger and fries and a piece of cheesecake in the hospital the second day I was there.  NOM!!
My OB did a 2 hour glucose test when he was a few months old and I passed that with flying colors.  They said I could schedule it any time after my 6 week appointment.

  • FWIW, I was able to have pancakes and syrup at the hospital last week and still keep it under my carb count. They had a sugar free syrup that tasted just like regular.
