Trouble TTC

The 2WW/P4 Supplements/Multiples?

Hi ladies- So I posted a complaining rant as my intro post on here and then I went silent. Apologies for that. Honestly, I've been trying not to think about it as much as possible, but that's proving to be pretty difficult so here I am! I have been keeping up with all of your stories, and it's super helpful to know that i'm not alone in this.

So here's an update on my situation - This is my first cycle, and everything is new to me. I was on clomid for the first couple weeks and then did the trigger shot on 9/18 (my day 13) with 3 good follicles. We had TI the next few days (opted not to do IUI since it is our first try and DH's counts are above average). Had to go back on day 18 for a P4 blood test. Levels were a bit low so she started me on supplements twice a day (by mouth thankfully!) And now here I am on day 24, counting down the hours until our very first pregnancy test scheduled for Saturday. Over the weekend I felt pretty nauseous and actually had some diarrhea (sorry if it's TMI!) on Saturday night. Funnily enough, I was actually excited about the nausea thinking it might be a symptom of success? But, then I read it could also just be a symptom of P4 supplements, so I don't want to get my hopes up. It's so frustrating and confusing not knowing what's going on in your own body.

Anyway, it helps to pass the time chatting on this board. Does anyone know about the chances for multiples with 3 good follicles? I'm wondering about that now too...Also, tips for dealing with the wait over the next few days? And, does anyone have any experience with P4 supplements and wanna chat about their symptoms?

Thanks ladies :) and happy Monday!

Re: The 2WW/P4 Supplements/Multiples?

  • I ditto progesterone messing with your head.  I felt nausous last cycle and had some pretty stereotypical pregnancy symptoms and ended up with a BFN. I'm so glad my dr warned me about them.

    Good luck!!

  • From what the RE told me, the chance that a pregnancy will be twins overall is about 10% on Clomid - higher (15-20%) if you have 2+ mature follies, and close to 0% if you have 1 follie. So, if you have a 20% chance of pregnancy to start with through IUI, and you have 3 mature follies, you probably have about just over a 3% chance that you will get pregnant this cycle AND that it will be multiples.

(Chance for triplets is about 1% overall but if you have 3 follies, that must be somewhat increased - not sure by how much because I don't know what % of Clomid cycles analyzed have 1, 2, 3, etc. mature follies.)

  • Progesterone supplements are a total mind f*ck. Straight up. I get nauseous, bloating, porn star boobs, the crazies (aka mood swings). For me, they are the absolute worst part of the process.

  • @mmmKayy - thank you for the laugh. "porn star boobs" def describes it haha. I will be chalking up these symptoms to the progesterone rather than pregnancy until I know for sure.

@bunnyberry - I too am impressed with your math skillz, though 3% sounds awfully low :-/ Isn't it amazing how so many people get pregnant without trying? And here we are crossing our fingers and hoping against hope for a BFP. Funny how I spent all those years trying NOT to get pregnant! Life is tricky that way...
  • @iPutKetchupOnKetchup‌ i thought this was a safe space and that you ladies could understand that maybe I will choose at times to take a break from the board for various reasons. I apologized already so i refuse to do it again. Feel free to not read or respond to my posts if it ticks you off that i don't have time every day to scour this board at all hours. I plan on continuing to offer others support as I am able, and hope that i can find mutual support as well.
  • @Iputketchuponketchup - I was typing on a mobile device, so typos happen. What is with you and this forum? You need to chill out and treat it for what it is...an online forum for women going through a troubled time. A place to voluntarily support each other as we are able. You shouldn't chastise someone if they are unable to post for 3 days, and who the hell cares if someone misspells a word or accidentally types the word "I" in lowercase? That was clearly you being petty and juvenile.

Now...I'm not suggesting any more, I am formally requesting based on your attitude that you refrain from commenting further on any of my posts. I don't need the negativity or provocation from you in a group that should be supportive.
  • I agree, the Progesterone straight up sucks!!!  It gives you pregnancy symptoms, the last thing we need when having trouble TTC.  Good luck.
