Hi ladies I am having a debate on baby boys name I really like the name Ryan but I don't want to spell it Ryan..... So I would like to see what u ladies think about a few different spellings.... Rahyon.... Rahyn.... Or Rahn.... Which do u women think I better help plz

Also, I read none of these spellings as an alternative to Ryan. They all read as "Ran" or "Rayhin" or something. No one will pronounce it Ryan.

Yea I didn't read any of the spellings you wrote as Ryan. You might want to lurk around the baby name board that's on here. You'll find most people aren't a fan of Youneek spellings. If you don't like the way the name is spelled it's probably time to pick a new name sorry just my opinion.

My husband wanted us to use the spelling Seline instead of "Selene" or "Celine." Told him if we can't spell it correctly we need to move on. Don't want my kid stuck always spelling her name for people.

Don't give your kid a normal name with a messed up spelling like that. He will have to constantly explain both the pronunciation as well as the spelling to everyone he ever meets for the rest of his life. I don't understand why people feel compelled to strap their kids with these ridiculous, unique spellings. I just don't.

Abby, I've named my daughter a common name with a unique spelling and I hope nobody Would ever assume such bullshit about my child or myself. I would hope a person would not judge me or my child based off of a spelling of a name. That's ridiculous.

I'm not saying it's "right" or "wrong", I'm saying it happens. Misspelled names names are judged, even if it isn't fair. If there are 2 identical resumes, "Elizabeth" typically has a higher chance of being called for an interview than "Ellazzybyth".

Really, you can name your child whatever you want! I just want to point out that 'Rhys' actually is the original spelling, not Reese... So that is the difference.

If you must change the spelling, what about Ryen? At least it looks like it could be pronounced the same way.

Rhys is a Welsh name and pronounced like Reece. It isn't some weird spelling. It's actually the Welsh word for "ardor." In fact, the name Reece STEMS from Rhys, as Reece is the anglicized form, so point = invalid.

The difference is that Rhys is a legitimate name. 

Excuse me while this teacher goes to gauge her eyes out with a freshly sharpened pencil. FFS, if you are going to invent your own spellings, please have a basic understanding of English phonics rules.

There seems to be some very strong opinions about this name. I will cautiously add in my two cents, and hopefully it will help.

This name actually has an Irish origin. Here in Ireland it is actually spelled Rían. Ryan is the English spelling. So if you still wanted a different spelling than the traditional English one but also for it to be "correct" you could use Rían.
