Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

4 weeks post mc. Still no period

Hi Ladies,

Today is 4 weeks post my heartbreaking miscarriage. Believe you me, I have been through a whirlwind of emotions and seem to be settling a bit now that the pregnancy hormones are low, if not have left my body by now. (I am kind of too scared to take a pregnancy test) I am still seeing a psychologist and get sad when I see a baby advert or pregnancy announcement ect.My heart is most definitely not healed and never will be but i seem to be handling my emotions better and not crying so much when I tell my story. I still have very low moments and cry my eyes out to hubby, he really is so great to me and is so supportive. Iam a very sensitive person but seem to be strong at school (I am a teacher)

Like I say, it is now 4 weeks since my mc and there is still no sign of my period. I just want it to come now so that I know my body is recovering and getting back to normal. My ob had said that if my period isn't here 6 weeks post mc, then I should see him again.
I know there is nothing I can do to bring it on, I'm just venting a bit. Guess there is no "normal" time frame and that we are all very different and our bodies do what they need to do when they are ready. Any advice as to what I could be expecting? Generally a heavy period or is it like a normal one? This will anyway be my first period since I came off the pill on June 3. Had that 1st period from the pill that week... then fell pregnant straight away, then sadly miscarried my 1st child on the 31st of August and then had my D and C 1Sept. SO I have bled since coming off the pill (as my mc) . Just wanting my cycles to regulate. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

Hugs to all you fellow moms to angels

Re: 4 weeks post mc. Still no period

  • It is totally normal to not get your period right on time. My doctor told me to expect it anywhere from 3-8 weeks after my D&C. So I would not worry about it until you start getting closer to 8 weeks. As far as what to expect, my first post-D&C AF was a little heavier than my normal period, but not too much. My pre-loss AFs lasted 3-4 days and my first post-loss AF lasted about 5 days with some spotting on the 6th day. Hope that helps. I know waiting is the worst, especially when you have no idea what to expect or when to expect it. Good luck!

  • I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm 8 weeks post d&c and still no AF, I'm still getting positive tests so my doc is monitoring my hcg levels. I go for another blood test tomorrow.
  • I'm very sorry for your loss.  I had a missed miscarriage that passed naturally (so no D&C) on 8/17, and it took me a little over a month to get my period.  I was told it could take a little longer than that.  I didn't have any cramps before, and as for me, it lasted a few days longer than my normal period, and I had more tissue.  Other than that, it wasn't much different. Definitely follow up on your HCG levels.  Wishing you the best.

  • I have no advice, but stay strong. :)
I'm so sorry for your loss
  • Thanks ladies. I'll just wait around. Going on a school camp this Wed till Friday. (I'm the teacher) hope that if Todd the red dot comes along, that it'll be managable and not more than normal. Will just keep supplies with me in case and pain killers. Aaah.... thanks for your support xxx this group has been so helpful. I'm all the way from South Africa and have found such a great support base here. And learnt so much in the process. You all know what we have been through and that helps us help each other. My ob didn't ask me to come in for blood tests to test hcg. I'll do preg test on the weekend and possibly go past my gp next week to do a blood test. Hugs to you all xxx
