Warning-- possibly TMI-- I finally sort of got my period on CD 35

I have no clue what cycle day I am now-- CD 36, CD1, CD???.  I have an appointment on Tuesday, so hopefully they can figure this all out.

Last night, I still had no signs of AF and I was CD 35.  They did a Beta on me on Thursday, so I knew I am not pregnant.  They ordered progesterone (400 mg) for me to take for 10 days so I would have a period.  I didn't get chance to pick it up yesterday, so I figured I'd end up starting it tonight instead.  

When they did my IUIs they had slight difficulty entering my cervix.  The doctor said he didn't think that was my IF problem since I had been menstruating.  But, I have been wondering the last few days if maybe that was why I wasn't starting.  In 30+ years I have never missed a period (except for when I was pregnant).  I have felt like I have had my period for several days-- bloating, cramping, moody, etc.  So, I started to wonder if maybe it was just "stuck."  When I was in the shower last night, I checked my CM and it was still completely clean.  But then I put a little pressure on my cervix and I started to flow-- pretty heavily.  It didn't last long and it was thicker, with some clots.  I had a little more overnight and today.  I am not planning to start the progesterone since it appears to me that I did have my period.  It just couldn't get out.

 

Anyone else have anything similar happen or heard of this before?

Hmmm.. Well that is all very interesting. I was gonna ask how you were doing last night, but I figured I'd just wait for you to update. You're saying as you pressed on your cervix your flow started right then? Or soon after? 

Did you get pregnant naturally with your two previous pregnancies? If you did, then I'd be inclined to think your cervix isn't really an issue? But it does seem strange that they would have trouble doing your IUI, your cervix should be naturally soft/open around the time of O, so that would make me wonder what was up as well. 

FTR I've asked my RE several times if my tilted uterus could be causing the issue, and he said the same thing as your Dr - basically if blood can come out, sperm can get in----- but when I was pregnant with my daughter, my OB made a comment about my ute during my first prenatal visit, and she said it actually COULD make it more difficult to conceive. So I might just make an appt with my OB for an annual, and ask them what they thought of this issue- just to get more perspective, because OBs and REs rarely agree on these things - but wouldn't treatment ultimately be IUIs anyway? Maybe it's a moot point at this stage. 

It's good you FINALLY got your period, at least now you can move forward with another cycle, right?

I didn't have any problems getting pregnant before.  I got pregnant twice naturally with no issues.  The second baby had bladder problems and while we were assessing that issue and discussing treatments, I miscarried him at 16 weeks and had to have a D&E.  Since then I can not get pregnant.

The flow was immediate last night and fairly brief (just a minute or two).  Not enough to have been a whole period's worth-- but I would have soaked a pad.

Oh definitely strange! I agree, I would call the doctor.

That's bizarre, I've never even heard of that. I imagine it could be problematic for your health to have all the period flow trapped inside your ute. I would def see a Dr about it. I know you already have an apt, so let us know what they say.

I have a sort-of similar situation. Ever since my first miscarriage (I've had 3 in the past year), my period is really clotty and doesn't really "flow" like it used to. Mostly it just comes out in clots when I go to the bathroom or when I "push" it out or push on my lower abdomen. AF does start on its own, but the blood definitely seems like it's having a hard time getting out, hence the clotting. I know this is probably not normal. But I've had so many other issues lately that my RE is just sort of like "meh" about it whenever I tell him. I have a tilted uterus (anteflexed?) as well. 

Not to get all hippie/new agey on you, but the alternative medicine practitioners I see (acupuncturist, Mayan massage therapist) say that the tilted uterus could definitely be having an impact on things not being able to get out / stagnating. 

Again, my RE is kind of like "meh." Especially since we're doing IUI next. But who knows?

I saw the RE today.  He didn't seem to think too much about my "starting" my period myself.  He said I probably didn't ovulate this cycle.  My old lady ovaries are not responding well to clomid, so he wants me to do gonaditropin injections and another IUI.  We'll give this a try for 2 months and if it doesn't work...  that will be it.  

I need to wait until next cycle to do it since I don't really know what cycle day I'm on.

So...  C31, CD???
