So is this just the start?

DD has mastered the art of rolling over. First it was belly to back, now its back to belly. And it's nearly impossible to keep her on her back. Diaper changes are difficult, and I don't even bother putting her under her gym anymore. She wants nothing to do with it. We are in the process of getting her a bouncer because the only other thing we have that she will tolerate is her little chair with the tray and toys. The part I'm a little annoyed with is she will roll over on to her belly and then can't seem to figure out how to roll back over, even though she has done it before. So she gets mad and I have to go over there, flip her back over just so she can roll over again! She does this in her crib too. So once again I'm in there over and over and over again flipping her back over. Any new toys that I could get to entertain her. I might as well store up the gyms now.

This is exactly what we are going through right now! He actually rolled back onto his back this morning after being on belly but otherwise just gets annoyed and starts fussing. He rolls onto his belly now in the crib too when he sleeps and I'm glued to the monitor and checking on him every 10 minutes! He enjoys the exersaucer and still shows interest in the playmate.

  • Same here! She wouldn't nap today because she was just thrashing! It has been a few weeks since she started rolling and she doesn't mind being on her belly as much and will play some in that position on the play-mat. Hope things get better!

  • I get frustrated when he rolls onto his back and wakes up pissed off. I can always tell when he rolls: he screams like a banshee.

  • Same things happening here. Sometimes DD will stay on her stomach for 30 mins or so, and sometimes she starts screaming instantly. I also don't understand why she can't figure out to roll back over. She rolled stomach to back around 3 mos, and then stopped like 2 weeks later. Drives me nuts. DD rolls in her crib and I have started to just leave her be. Our Pedi said, once she starts, there's nothing that can be done. She seems to be doing well enough with it, so I'm not too worried.
Are you looking for toys to keep her on her back or entertain her while she is on her stomach? Between us and the gparents we have 4 gyms/playmats, and none of them keep DD on her back for too long. When she rolls to her stomach, I usually put a book in front of her; or a mirror. She gabs at herself incessantly.

  • That happened to us with DS. He learned shortly to roll back. I remember it being frustrating but just remember that these periods are short and they grow up so fast. Every stage goes away and brings a new hurdle. I keep telling myself this since DS is in the terrible two stage!

  • I could have typed this word for word. It's cute she can roll over but it is so obnoxious. I have a hard time letting her play on the floor any more bc its the first thing she does when you lay her down. So we spend a lot of time in the infant to toddler rocker , bumbo and jumper

  • Same here - I guess its still a novelty, so they do it lots! Soon it will wear off (I hope!) and we'll be on to the next new thing :)

  • Wow thank god I'm not the only one lol. I can rarely get her to play on her mat. She just wants to roll lol. I mean more power to her! I'm beyond proud of her, but when I have to stop what I'm doing every 3 minutes (literally) to put her back on her back, it a big inconvenience. So I've been putting her in her little seat a lot more. She likes to sit up but she will get bored of that after about 20 minutes or so. I think a bouncer is the next step.

  • Haha! Again I'm glad I'm not the only one! LO started rolling back to stomach first and he can't roll stomach to back yet. So as soon as I lay him down he rolls and then hates being on his stomach unless he's asleep. I'm trying to give him more tummy time so he can do it but I think he's just lazy and face plants and cries after about 5 min. He can lift his head way up and is on his elbows but just doesn't like it..
