High Amniotic Fluid Anyone?

Mine should be 21..it's 31...most likely caused by gestational diabetes....why do I even bother reading the internet?  So scary.  I am also so incredibly HUGE and uncomfortable...I look like I am having twins.

Re: High Amniotic Fluid Anyone?

  • You should donate some to me, I have the total opposite problem. My fluid is 5.1. And if it goes below 5 they will probably induce me at 36wks.

  • I had high fluid last time. No googling!!! I lost 30lbs just when they broke my water. It was ridiculous! I felt so much better though.

Just found out yesterday I'm 5.  Hoping to make it to 36 weeks.
  • Hi, I have GD too. Yes high fluid is one if the risks of he condition. I've heard where they can take fluid if necessary through the needle used for doing an amino. Don't have any experience if high fluid though.

Funnily enough I did have low fluid with my DS which is a less common side effect of GD. My levels were at a 5, they put me on an IV in hospital and got me back to a7 or 8 and that combined with drinking a TON of water (like I was going to the bathroom every 45 minutes) got me through another week but then my levels dropped to a 3 and they decided to induce early. In retrospect had I known then what I know now I wouldn't have agreed to the induction so soon and would have pushed hard to be admitted into hospital and kept on an IV to keep him in for longer. He ended up being born before he was ready (37 weeks) and had some complications as a result.

Big thing I would say is be informed about the treatment options. Try NOT to read about the complications or risks as that will only make you stress and not help things but knowing about options can help you work with your Dr once unsung a solution that works best for everyone. You could try posting on the high risk board to see if you can hear from ladies with similar experience. Hope that the concept if posting in a board called high risk doesn't freK you out I just know that's where complications get discussed a lot and it could work out well for answers. Good luck!
