YouTube videos of labor

I don't know why I decided to watch a video of natural childbirth but I did. Don't do it ladies!!!! I'm begging you!!!! And then the lady having her baby on the way to the hospital and in the entrance of hospital. Let's face it. Do you think delivery will go as planned for you or do you have a back up plan???

  • I meant watch the videos when I said don't do it btw. I've thought about all the options. I really don't have a plan.

  • Haha, I love watching videos of natural childbirth. I find it fascinating and magnificent. I actually have a home birth video up on youtube - nothing graphic, though.

I totes have a backup plan, just in case, but this is my third home birth so barring unforeseen complications I think it'll go fine.

  • Well there was one of someone giving birth on the bathroom floor. I got grossed out by that one. I am pretty sure I want drugs. I was induced with my 1st and I don't even know what contractions feel like. I broke my coccyx giving birth.

So after you have the baby at home then what? Do you go to the hospital. I really don't have a stinking clue how it works. Just wondering in case I got stuck at home in a snow storm. I thought maybe I should read up on birth at home or something.

  • @MuchlyGen‌ I think I would be fine but my husband would have a heart attack. He would not be able to help me. I've been considering all options this time. I am also considering a c section because of the nerve damage and years of problems I had after my 1st birth from the broken coccyx.

I love watching the videos. Helps me (kinda) know what to expect, makes me feel a little more prepared. Honestly, some of them scare the ever living crap out of me and I have to change it X_X
  • I went on a YouTube birth watching marathon before I got my BFP. It made my vagina shudder, but I guess I never really had a romanticized view of child birth so not really that shocking.

It's pretty amazing our bodies can do all of that, though.

As for the upcoming birth of these babies... I am going into it with a very open mind. Considering they are still breech and have never flipped, I have a strong suspicion this is going to be a c section. I'm at peace with that.

The big what if for me is whether I'm going to go into labor on my own or it's going to be a scheduled thing. My intuition says these babies aren't going anywhere on their own, so unexpectedly going into labor might throw me off my game.

  • I love those videos...especially the "One Born Every Minute" series.  As far as plans...I'm just hoping to be able to give birth vaginally at this point.  Little girl is transverse right now...not really something that I had considered happening before, but there it is.  If she flips/the doctor is able to flip her, then I hope to go med free, but I think planning too much in childbirth is just setting myself up for disappointment.  I really don't want a c-section, but getting LO out safe and healthy is the most important thing.

  • I made myself watch videos in order to feel more prepared, but the thought of watching myself give birth (in a mirror) makes my nerves tremble from my vag to my feet. It's crazy what our bodies can do, but what if I saw myself tear!? I think I'd be scarred for life... but I remember how in the moment it really didn't matter; I was just trying to get through the pain, so maybe I actually wouldn't care.
  • I find the natural birth videos to be so inspiring! I'm hoping for a med free, minimal intervention birth, and seeing that so many other ladies have done the same is so helpful! Especially since I only know one person who has had a med free birth, all my coworkers have done the usual hospital course..pitocin, epidural, baby in distress followed by a c section.

I love watching birth videos, especially water births. One of my favorites. Breech home water birth.

***Might see some butt, but nothing terribly graphic***

  • The first one I watched was horrid! I've watched some since and definately not as bad. I guess I just picked the wrong video to watch first. It was far from amazing. I haven't seen one like that one since. I did not cry out of joy. I immediately checked my heartrate because I was having chest pains.
