Progesterone level has me scared to death.

So I had my progesterone level checked today (4w2d) because it's what caused my loss in 2013 and the nurse called me back a few minutes ago saying my level was 11.4. She called it adequate and said it's still on the lower end. I'm already on 50mg suppositories that I take 2x a day and she said we just have to trust that your body is doing what it's suppose to. I'm freaked the hell out. Has anyone had any experience with this?

No experience- but can they up your dose or change you to PIO? Keeping my fingers crossed!

Can they up you to 3x a day for the suppositories? Mine was 18 and they added in prometrium also 2x a day, can you ask for that? Or PIO? I would for sure ask to be put on additional progesterone support.

@pblge Had some concern with progesterone, so she may have good insight.  

I'd see if you can do PIO.  I had a dip a few weeks ago when they switched me to the suppositories.  My bigger scare came with my estrogen level that went from over 2K to 100, but then 2 days later it was back over 4K.

I'm sorry you're having such a scare right now. Remember that suppositories and pills don't show up in your blood work. Only PIO will show up in your blood work.

So, while it looks like you are low-normal, things are likely just fine! I understand its very scary, so definitely ask if you can up your dose or frequency.

PP have already said that the hoohah bullets don't show up in bloodwork, which is the main point. Beyond that, I have no idea about progesterone levels in IUIs. You have a corpus luteum. What's that like? :-/ I also had one test come back very low, but it was right in between two tests that were much, much higher, which convinced me that there is error in these tests. Perhaps ask for a second draw?

Thanks guys. She did say that we have to trust they are working. I wasn't aware they don't show up in the blood so that. Makes me feel better. Does that mean that they are still providing to my growing embryo we just can't see it?? Also, what is PIO? She offered to out me on a gel but she said that I am better off with the suppositories 50mg 2x a day.

PIO is progesterone in oil it's an intramuscular injection

Yes, the suppositories are helping even though it doesn't show up in blood work it's just absorbed locally rather then systemically.

I also had a level of 11 with first progestrone draw. But I supplemented my prometrium with a daily shot of pio. By the next blood draw, I was at 25, which was much more reassuring! While it won't show up and you're probably ok, I'd still ask to be supplemented with PIO. You can't have too much, but too little is risky. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
