Trouble TTC a Sibling

Over weight compared to 1st pregnancy

Hi there!
So I'm about 30 lbs heavier than when I got pregnant with my daughter 3 years ago. I'm a little over 215lbs now. I'm just wonder if anyone would mind sharing if they are/were overweight and pregnant? I'm terrified that's why we are having a harder time this time around... I'm trying to loose weight (again) now while we are TTC Just wanted to hear some encouragement. Thanks so much!

  • I'm just wondering if anyone out there in "bump cyber land" was 200lbs or more and got pregnant... My dr said as long as I'm having a period it's ok.... But I'm still stressed:( I got pregnant with my first with ease....@PrincessPetunias‌ are you having trouble ttc another child?

  • I was 225 and got pregnant with my DD...but I am also 6 foot tall
  • Oh ok! I'm only 5'3:( so the weight is definitely different

  • Yes, I'm having trouble getting pregnant. And staying pregnant. I've wondered if my weight is effecting things. But my RE didn't mention it as an issue.

--sig warning-- (not sure if this is even needed here)

I'm 5'4 and overweight. At my first RE appt I asked if my weight was contributing to RPL. He said as long as I'm routinely ovulating, he didn't consider it a factor. I weighed 239 when I got pg this time.

I'm mobile and can't see sigs, but wanted to say that I strongly recommend charting to confirm that you are ovulating.

  • Thank you @KMW08‌! I'm charting and doing OTKs. What does SIG stand for? Sorry I'm kinda new (haven't been on here on 3 years)

  • That's great you lost 10! Where you on the clomid because of your weight/hight? Like where issues caused because of that? TIA

  • Ugh sorry to hear that! Best of luck

  • I am 5'3" and weighed 185 when I got pregnant the first time. This time I weigh around 195 but having more trouble and the metformin isn't going the trick. I wondered it the weight makes any difference even though it's not a big difference for me.

  • I was also 185 with my first pregnantcy , had no issues getting pregnant or during the pregnancy. Now I'm 215 and it's seeming to be not as "easy" as my first

  • 5'4'' and hovering  around 210lbs.  I was about 10 lbs lighter when I got pregnant with my DD, but my weight doesn't seem to be a contributing factor this time around.

I take my vitamins (since my higher weight is mainly from my crappy eating habits) and have confrimed that I am ovulating (since higher weight is common with PCOS).

I am no doctor, but I think that weight alone isn't a cause of TTC.  Having a higher weight is usually a secondary symptom of a TTC issue (like PCOS).
