Re: WHAT or HOW did you get a BFB!
The wonderful thing, when you're talking to people about their conception journeys, is hearing how many different ways there are to start new life and how personal we are able to make this experience. If you have come straight off the back of a negative with a 'what else can I do' attitude, well done
Now relax. Spending half your cycle trying to find that 'one thing' could end up sending you into overdrive before you're even out of the starting gate.
Aside from the diet measures we used to regulate my PCO during ttc, I also made sure to include plenty of yams in my diet (lol, read up on the link between yams and twins) and reduced things like caffeine, fish with high mercury content...anything that is not great during pregnancy really. So, 'eat like you're pregnant,' is the best advice I can give you there. The best fresh produce you can provide, plenty of clear fluids, etc. I also read that you can benefit from taking 400unit of folic acid supplement up to 3 months before you actually conceive, so that was a daily necessity for us.
We mainly tracked cycles using cm, insem'ing within twelve hours of first ewcm sighting and then 24 hours after that. We used a lidded plastic pot for our donor's deposit, transferring to a small needless syringe after it had re-liquefied.
The month we conceived was actually the month I felt we most likely hadn't. I'd given up on getting a try in that month and decided to let my hair down. We were out for my birthday and I was a few mojitos down when I spotted the first ewcm. Our donor made it over to our place almost a full 24 hours after that and I was tense and anxious by the time we got to do the insem. HPT we took two weeks later was negative and I almost helped myself to a glass of wine in commiseration but decided not to drink when I was already tired. I don't know what made me do it but I tested again the next morning and we got a faint positive.
My point is - even the months where it seems like things aren't getting done have a chance of being the one. When the perfect baby is ready to join your family, they will find a way to get to you.
