*UPDATED* Help... 18hrs of sleep not normal

DD slept from 8pm last night until 2pm this afternoon. DH works 3rd shift and didn't realize the time until he woke to use the RR. She had been running a fever Monday but went to the doctor yesterday as a precaution because she is scheduled to have tubes placed Friday. Anyway, DH woke her and changed her, gave her something to drink and eat but she's very fussy like she was Monday before the fever except she has no fever this time. Please help with advice!

Anyone else go through this? How worried should I be? I'm at work waiting on the doctor to call me back but I just called Children's and the lady said absolutely NOT NORMAL!! But didn't give me any idea on what to do next!!

Concerned/Panicked MOMMY!!!!! :(

***follow - up***

DH called a little bit ago to say she is up playing and has had some fruit and water. Dr. Office finally called me back after 3hrs of waiting to say "oh she is probably just tired"... really?! I do believe my next mission is a new  pediatrician!!

Thank you for your well wishes... I just want to get home to my baby, to check her out myself!

  • I agree with everything PPs have said. Emmett has slept almost that long before, and then he developed a high fever later that day. I always know that he's getting sick or getting over a sickness when he sleeps an unusually long amount.

I would probably call the pedi and she what he/she thinks, but I wouldn't be super worried about it.

  • My LO does often nap for a really long time when she's feverish or fighting something. Like 5 hour naps instead of 2. Sometimes she will sleep in a little too, like 2 or 3 hours longer than normal. I've never had her sleep straight through like that but she will go back for the nap earlier than normal. I hope your LO is better soon!!
