Announcing to work people

When did you tell the people you worked with that you are pregnant? I wanted to wait until like 12 weeks, but I am thinking I will be showing before that. I already a bloated mess, I just don't know. Also, did you start showing quicker with #2?!

I waited till 13 wks each time. The second time around I wore my "fat" clothes a little sooner and was in maternity clothes around 16 wks with twins.

You really couldn't tell I was pg at 13 wks, maybe gained a little weight but it wasn't obvious.

I announced around 16 weeks. I couldn't hide it anymore!

I waited until I was about 14 weeks. I couldn't zip my pants but I didn't look pregnant yet. I just wore bigger style shirts and a Bella band. If they were suspicious, they didn't seem it when I told them!

I definitely started showing faster with #2 though. With DS, I wasn't in maternity clothes full time until 24 weeks. Fat chance this time!!

I told my boss at 17w.. my co-workers just started noticing this week at 20w lol. I wanted to wait as long as possible.

Since I had so many IVF appointments and had bad MS, most people I work with at my office know.  But I think I'll be more free to share info at 12 weeks.  

I was so open with IVF, even those who didn't hear from me probably have a clue.  I eat crackers all day, I puked last week, and I'm not drinking.  I mean, there was an office party with a margarita machine 10 feet from my desk and I didn't even touch it - VERY unlike me.  And I gave away several of my liquor bottles last week, as I was cleaning out my desk.  Before you judge...I'm in advertising and we drink a lot.

LOL, your work sounds fun!! I need a job like that!

I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and I *still* haven't announced! Thank goodness for scrubs...LOL
Of course, the ironic thing is that it's an OBGYN office...they're surrounded by it and haven't realized. I am trying to keep it down as long as possible, but I think by next week the cat will have to be let out of the bag. My pants are getting pretty snug, and while it isn't noticeable usually, after lunch it's a whole other can of worms!!

I waited until 13 weeks, and I guess I have tactless coworkers because the most frequent response I got was "we were wondering why you were gaining weight!" I found that my demi-panel maternity jeans actually hold my belly in more, especially at the beginning when it is mostly bloat.

My work would probably say the same thing!

I told my boss at 14 weeks. He was SHOCKED when I told him how far along I was. I was just too scared to announce any sooner. I just kept wearing baggy shirts, sweaters, cartigans over my shirts, etc. After I told my boss I told one or two employees here and there and the news spread pretty fast!

Told my bosses at 15 weeks but didn't tell the rest of the staff until 24 weeks! By then I was getting weird looks and a couple of people have asked me.

My direct boss already knows- I really had no choice with all the dr visits, and IUI. I just need to tell the others. The only person I really feel obligated to tell sooner, is the other girl in the office. We do things on occasion outside of work with my kid & hers- she knows the struggle I went through with my first, but I didn't even tell people we were trying for #2- so she will be shocked about all of it! We eat lunch together every day at work too, and a few times I was tempted to say something, but I just haven't...

My immediate staff already knew I was going through IVF (our clinic was out of town so it meant taking time off), so they were expecting it. I decided to tell my direct report at about 8 weeks because I was already getting such horrible morning sickness I would rather them know why I was sick than think I'm a slacker.

As for "showing" - even with twins I didn't really start showing an obvious baby bump until well into the second trimester. I think you can probably get away with just looking like you've gained a little weight (the bloat) at 12 weeks.

I already told my direct boss after I saw the heartbeats at the 7w u/s.... and I very recently told one other co-worker who I am close with.

I told my direct boss, because I wanted her to know why I was tired at work, and I generally feel like I've been under performing recently - and I wanted her to know there was at least a reason behind it.

There is only one other person at work that I plan to tell before I'm obviously showing.  I have a co-worker who went through a loss about the same time that I did (our D&C's were a few days apart). I don't want her to find out from anyone but me... but I'm dragging my feet on it.

My boss knew because I told him about IVF. I had to tell two colleagues at 11 weeks because we went out to happy hour and they would have figured it out.

Everyone else I told at 14 weeks. I kept thinking something would go wrong as soon as I told people so I waited as long as I could.

I work with lots of guys, and they were all pretty clueless, so you may be able to hold out longer if that's your situation. Women tend to notice faster.

This was my plan. Unfortunately, someone at work asked me at about 16 weeks if I was pregnant and had to say yes as I couldn't think of anything else to say. So I'm pretty sure everyone knows and I'm definitely showing now but no one else has really come out and asked me yet but I plan on being more open about it starting next Wednesday.
