504

I know Reese is not even anywhere near public school yet. This year she should have started preschool but her doctors didn't allow it due to her compromised immune system. She SHOULD be able to go to private pre-k next fall. Would they accept a 504? Or would that be in place in public kindergarten?

The main thing I want to put in it is downtime if necessary. Also if anything contagious is going around school (strep, chicken pox, etc) to be notified immediately that way we can call her doctor and figure out the best way to protect her.

How would I even start a 504 process?

Re: 504

  • FWIW our preschool already notifies parents of pretty much anything that starts going around. If some one in DD2's class has strep, RSV, HFM, a GI bug or anything like that they send a note home.

Oh I know. The place that we are seriously considering does as well. My concern is if Reese goes thee 3 days a week-Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Your a child may bece sick on Wednesday, a note goes home Thursday we wouldn't find out until the following week. In the mean time Reese is already on 4 doses of antibotics a week, I could call her doctor and they can raise the dose and hopefully she wouldn't catch it.
