After a week being monitored for preeclampsia and baby girl's IUGR, my BP spiked too many times Wednesday and the babies needed to be delivered. Since they were both feet down, they were delivered via csection Wednesday afternoon. Micah and Caroline are perfect and doing great in the NICU. I was 35 weeks even. We are in love.
Today marks their 6th day of life and in the NICU. Caroline was diagnosed with IUGR a few weeks before delivery and it turns out she didn't just slow her growth inside, it essentially stopped. She's tiny. She's still 3 lbs and nurses all day long but does tire easily. Micah is almost 5 lbs. Both babies are in incubators but no meds, room air, no IVs. Once they can self-regulate temps, they get to go home. Can't wait to have them home. The hospital is 1.5 hours from our house so what we've been doing is taking the older kids to school then spending the day in NICU and then leaving to pick kids up in the afternoon. It's been a VERY emotional journey but we're so grateful they're as healthy and strong as they are and need minimal intervention.
Attached is their picture from yesterday.
