I don't mean to alarm, just inform.
The other day, I suddenly remembered a little tidbit from a board I was on years ago. My username could be found by doing a Google search! So I immediately did a search and low and behold my The Bump profile popped up. I could even see discussions on the boards (even after logging out of my account), so immediately I searched how how to change my username.
This may not alarm you and that's totally cool. For me, however, my username is one that I have used since the beginning of my introduction to the internet so everyone I know is very familiar with it. Everyone knows I'm pregnant, but it freaked me out to know that anyone (without an account) could see what I'm talking about with this pregnancy or see my signature with all my IF/loss history!
I finally found a way to change my username and waited a few days to see if the bump links dissappeared. They didn't, but now when you click on it (which led to my profile) it says "whoops! User not found."
If you are interested in changing your username for any reason, you have to do it through theknot.com. For some reason thebump.com doesn't give you the option. Weird.
