Haha. But seriously, If you are using bottles, what size nipples are you using? We've been using twos because we've moved up to the Avent 9oz bottles and that's what they come with. But sometimes they cave in like she's sucking too hard, and sometimes it seems like they're flooding her. I'm wondering if we should switch to a different bottle, and are nipple sizes pretty consistent across the board? It seems like she should have moved up to a three by now but I cant friggin tell if the twos are too big or too small or it's just the brand we're using.
The title of this thread reminded me of a post I saw on FB yesterday where a woman literally traced her nipple on a piece of paper. She was complaining they were too big... Or something to that effect.
Were still using 1's but she is breastfed so I don't want her to get frustrated while breastfeeding plus she spits up crazily already. If we moved up I would guess that would get even worse
I thought this was about our own nipples too lol.... Because when I pump..... We use Lansinoh momma bottles and they only come with one nipple type but they are slow flow. LO still sucks them down pretty fast.
She's breastfed save for one bottle in the morning with her babysitter, so we use preemie nipples. She doesn't seem frustrated when bottle nursing, so I'm not making any changes.
Ah! Thanks! I'm surprised so many are still using ones. I've been going by the age, and figured I should be moving up in sizes and was all WHATS WRONG WITH MY BABY?!?
I EP so she's bottle fed. We use size 2 from Joovy Boob. I've considered moving her to size 3 but I've been too lazy to go buy the larger nipples and she seems to be doing fine with the 2. She's been pretty on schedule with the changing of the nipple size and size 3 aren't suggested until 6 months so we have a few more weeks until she'll become frustrated.
We tried Avent as a newborn and they did not work for her at all. We had the problem you're having with caving in or flooding. We ended up using preemie nipples on the Joovy Boob bottle and it was perfect, plus the bottles can be turned into sippy cup so we're hoping we can get years of use out of these bottles (they're glass).

And I'm so glad everyone's nipples are reasonably well sized. I should make a new thread HOW ARE YOUR ROAST BEEF CURTAINS ARE THEY STILL ALL MANGLED OR ARE THEY OK? I bet @GlynnCoco would chime in.

We mix feed, breast when I'm home, bottle when I'm at work and are on size 3 Avent cause that's what Avent told us to do. Damn marketing works! Maybe that's why she gets fussy on the breast from time to time...
and my nipples are still the size of dinner plates.

Day care complained about my little nipples and went up to twos on their own. It was taking her too long to eat...
We FF here and are using the size 4 Avent nipples. I've always just paid attention to when DS starts getting bored or frustrated while eating and that's usually the time to move on up. But if your baby is doing fine with the slow flow, I wouldn't worry about it.
We use Avent 9oz, FF, switched to 3s about a month and a half ago because he was collapsing the twos all the time. It solved the problem. He also stopped being so frustrated when he was hungry.
We rarely use bottles and it never crossed my mind that i should be moving up nipple size. DH complained that it took forever for LO to eat from a bottle last time, and that he was pretty fussy. This was probably the problem, since we're still on slow flow.

It's confusing because the bottles already come with nipples, but then there's about 67 different flows, textures, sizes, just sold separately. Avent is particularly confusing. I'm asumming the options coincide with something your nipples are doing when you breastfeed. Those fickle nips, I know nothing of their ways.
I'm using avent, we are still using the 4oz bottles (lo varies through the day and has 2-4 oz bottles). Size 2 teats but I'm sure I've got like 2 size 1 teats there too. He seems fine with these.
