So what 'irresponsible' things did you do before you knew you were KU?

edited September 2014 in Stay at Home Moms
Irresponsible in quotes because I feel like that's not the right word but I don't know what to replace it with....

With DS we were NTNP for about 5 months so I wasn't really thinking about what I was or was not doing.  I was probably about 4 weeks pregnant when I rode with H in a demolition derby.  It's a dirt track so the max speed is like, 25, and the airbags have to be removed, but you still get jolted around.  We actually crashed over a jersey wall during one heat....

Also, there were two times I think (well, definitely once) that I got drunk.  I guess all of these instances were because I had what I thought was a period the previous month (apparently must have just been spotting or something?  Who knows), so I assumed I wasn't pregnant.  Took a test the day before I was due for my next period because we were going to a football game that night and I was testing to see if I would be drinking or not.  That was the end of that though cuz I got my BFP.  :)

ETA - Oh when I had my 8 week appointment I was actually measuring 12 so that's why I was KU before I thought I was.

  • We threw a huge house party and I got plastered right before I found out. I don't get regular periods, and we had an appointment to see a RE, so we figured that would be our last hoorah. Well, it was, but turns out I didn't need the RE. I was about6 weeks along for that party.

  • With C, I thought I was out that cycle, so DH and I went out to eat and did tequila shots at the bar. I found out maybe 2 days later.

  • My bff and I still laugh about this. I got pregnant in March but weren't really trying but really weren't preventing ( skipped the pull part of pull and pray) the amount of times I got drunk that month. It was like subconsciously I knew that I needed to get my drink on.

  • I don't remember. If I did, it was probably something like eating deli meat or something like that. I'm not very exciting.

  • We tried for such a long time and nothing ever happened so I never thought I would be pregnant. I had an MRI, drank coffee, and ate deli meat.
  • Oh, and I soaked in a hot tub the next few nights after DD was conceived.
  • We went to Harry Potter World and universal studios. A weekend of roller coasters and moderate drinking. I was getting really motion sick while we there. Got home and tested BFP.

  • We were in New Orleans on vacation and I didn't know I was pregnant.  We went to a strip club and I had a drink…we pretty much partied.  I was also still taking ativan on an as-needed basis due to my anxiety.

  • DD was so planned; I quit drinking alcohol and caffeine about a month before we started trying. However, I ate soft serve ice cream while pregnant. I didn't even know it was off limits until like a year after DD was born. I also had a 1/2 glass of wine at a wedding we attended 4 days before my due date and a sip of this super coveted beer when I was about 4 months along.
  • Yea what's with the ice cream? I lived on vanilla soft serve with chocolate sprinkles when I was pregnant; there's a DQ at the gas station I used to stop at all the time. One time the lady gave me chocolate with chocolate sprinkles and I almost cried - seriously, I'm in here at least once a week, order the EXACT same thing... Gah! Lol.

But if we're gonna add after we knew we were pregnant - I drank coffee and tea, and pepperoni, cheese, and crackers was my daily mid-morning snack at work. I didn't change any toiletry/beauty products. DS turned out just fine.
  • Got drunk at night and took a lot of Adderall during the day
  • If I remember correctly, the whole thing with soft serve ice cream is that the machines don't get cleaned on a regular basis and thoroughly enough, that it can breed bacteria and possibly give you and your baby listeria.

Well that's just gross. Yet I still want soft serve.
  • I did all the bad things in the first 11 weeks with DS. Me and DH were just dating at the time and we were having tons of fun doing things together. Those things usually involved at least 1 thing on the list- sushi, soft serve, alcohol, pot, roller coaster rides, little to no sleep and rest. With dd, I was so paranoid (and I still feel guilty about the first tri with DS), plus we were trying, I abstained from pretty much everything,

  • wellllllllll I POAS  right after new year's eve. my period was a week late.

we partied on NYE- got sushi with friends then drank champagne all night, smoked pot, smoked cigarettes (wasted smoker)

I had no clue I was pregnant.

I didn't even go to the doctor until the end of January- they guesstimated I was around 8 weeks then based off my last period.
  • We had been TTC for years. I had been feeling kind of like something was different but my beta levels were bad. I assumed I wasn't pregnant. I had a drink out that night. The next day the clinic called to say they my levels looked good. The other message wasn't meant for me, a mix up. I freaked out lol! I wasn't really worried about my one drink but I had honestly not had even a glass of wine in two years.

I worked in a cafe that also had a soft serve machine, and this is gross but true. We'd just keep adding the new bags when the machine got low. I don't remember ever being asked to clean the machine. Eww!
Eww eww eww! I think it happens everywhere though.
