TTC After a Loss

UPDATE: Advice please! CD3 testing & u/s tomorrow

edited September 2014 in TTC After a Loss
Hello Ladies! I hope you're all having a fabulous Monday! Tomorrow I'll be doing my CD3 testing and an ultrasound to check out my junk and schedule my HSG for CD10. I feel a little lost in everything, I really don't know what all they're testing for and have no idea what questions to ask during the u/s or HSG. Current issues are painful, heavy periods, long cycles with unconfirmed O, checking for Factor V Leiden and diabetes. The RE is re running tests that my OB ran because she doesn't trust the results, I didn't either. So, what would you ask? Is there anything specific I need to make sure I'm tested for? Thank you! I'd attach treats but I'm mobile :(. Know that I love and appreciate each of you!

UPDATE: Thank you all for your well wishes! :) I was super nervous for some reason, but it was quick and easy! Ultrasound showed no abnormalities, my HSG is scheduled for next Monday and I will get all of the results Oct 15th. DH's SA came back great! The nurse said he's got good swimmies! YAY!

Oh, and I had to share a picture of this because I cracked up at the front desk when I saw it. Fertilization snow globe! HAHA

I think the standard CD 3 blood work is for FSH, TSH, E2, Prolactin, and AMH, but I might be missing something. Sounds like you might be checking for clotting disorders as well. (Side note...I have FVL if you have any questions.)

During the u/s they'll be looking for any abnormalities with your uterus or ovaries (fibroids, cysts, etc).

As far as questions to ask, you might want to ask specifically what they're testing you for and how long you should expect to wait for the results. Other than that, I'm not sure what else you might want to ask. The blood work, ultrasound, and HSG should hopefully give you a decent amount of information, but it'll be another week or two before you have all of those results.

    Good luck!

  • Good luck!  The u/s also looks at how many follicles you have on your ovaries.  Ask what they consider to be normal, I have heard different things.  They may also check vitamin levels (D is one) with the bloodwork, so ask for specifics.

  • No advice but good luck!

  • Typically, my CD3 ultrasounds look to make sure you don't have any big follicles or cysts left over from the previous cycle.
The hsg looks to see if your fallopian tubes are 'open'. If they're 'blocked', it makes it difficult for the eggs to travel through them. It's a 5 min procedure where they shoot some dye through a catheter...mine was uncomfortable for about 5seconds.
Finally, just wanted to say good luck!!!
