Don't know if I should have baby shower

this is my second pregnancy and with my first pregnancy I had one scheduled but I had to cancel it since my water was leaking at 34 weeks and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I want to have one with this one a week or two after I find out what I am having so it won't happen again but I'm not sure if I should have one, would you guys think it would be ok if I do with this one?

I had never heard of a problem with 2nd baby showers but have recently discovered they are frowned upon... good luck!

Second showers are common where I'm from because they aren't seen as a welcome to motherhood, they are seen as a celebration of your child. I guess it depends on where your at and your group of friends. As for throwing one for yourself, that's kinda a no-no. Showers are a gift to the mother.

Personally I've been waiting for more "whose my baby daddy?" Posts. On my last bmb we had at least two a week at this point. Scandalous!

If someone offers to throw one for you, that is great! Some friends of our's threw us a small diaper shower for our 2nd, which is the norm for this group of friends. It was more of just a fun party to celebrate the new baby, but everyone brought diapers instead of a gift. DS actually ended up being born a week before the shower so he got to come to his own shower, which made it even more fun.

Knowing your situation with your first child, there is a good chance family or friends may offer to throw you one. 

My sister had her first baby at 30 weeks, and was on bedrest in the hospital for a month before that. She never got a baby shower. So, with her second, I threw her a shower. She didn't need a whole lot of gifts but I think she liked the celebration more than anything.

However I do not think its socially acceptable to throw one for yourself, or ask for one. If someone offers, I think it is ok to graciously accept.

This is the first time I have posted about this and maybe my second time I usually post things on my other app. You guys don't need to be rude and yes my baby is important . I am not going to being rude but I couldn't find anything about baby showers cause I barely use this . I was asking a simple question but I do understand it is first time moms I'm not really saying it is important at all .

Well maybe I'm wrong about the whole baby shower thing and I wasn't going to plan my own lol. My mom was actually going to but I didn't know if it would be right cause I am a mom already .

I don't think anyone was trying to be rude, and I definitely don't think anyone implied that your baby is not important.

It's just that by there have been SO many threads about this today, including some polls, that by the time you posted, it was really just kind of funny that it was happening again. That's why people made snarky comments. If you have the chance to read through some of the other threads on the board today, you will see what I mean and you'd probably feel the same way. It just got ridiculous for a minute there.

That is not any kind of personal insult against you. You didn't know, you didn't know. All people are saying is it's courteous and considered common etiquette here to check for other similar threads on the board, using search, before making a new post, because then people aren't being asked to type out the same responses multiple times. A lot of people have been asked to do this (use the search function to avoid multiple posts) and it's seriously no big deal, and nothing personal.

I think if you want to and would have fun doing it then go for it! Probably keep it small though. Maybe talk to a few friends IRL and see what they think as they will likely be the ones attending?
